The article seems to state that a large part of the problem is that there aren't enough men to justify making it a category yet. Obviously they couldn't throw a men's team in to compete against women, for the same reason men and women's sports are separated in every other category. It's still discriminatory bullshit that they are outright banned, however.

Yeah, one has the right to compete, the other doesn't because they black-listed the sport. Women in (let's face it) islamic asshat countries who would be prevented from competing would be because of the country, not the IOC. It has nothing to do with anything anyone outside that country can do much about. Allowing this men's sport into the Olympics is something they can actually do something about.

Personally, I think any sport that doesn't have an objective winner shouldn't be in the Olympics, anyways. Anything that's decided by judges giving a score isn't in the true Olympic spirit.

The Olympics is really weird about gender, today I found out women aren't allowed to compete in the canoe slalom. Absolutely bizarre, I don't know what their deal is about these things.

There are too few competitors which means that the quality standards for male synchronized swimming is terrible. It is way under the standard that the Olympics set.

No misandry here, just plain simple logic.
