As long as these women don't get all pissed off at a (hypothetical or not) men's gathering, then yeah I think they have every right to be pissed at how these guys acted.

Leaving threatening messages isn't fucking cool.

I don't really mind if they have a girls-only meeting. It is their business. If they organize it and fund it, they have the right to deny anyone they want entrance. The same would be true if we organized a guys-only meeting. If I decided to organize a guys-only reddit meetup, I could deny women entrance to the meeting. I organized it, I have the right to decide who enters and who does not.

I'm just curious because I don't know how those meetups on reddit work... but what exactly is keeping the person allegedly being spammed/threatened from solving the problem? Couldn't they just use a throw-away account to make the thread and then create a meetup at meetup.com, then just point everyone there (as in say in the OP that they will not be using the account for anything else and people should not pm them and they will not respond)?

I thought the post by Bensch had merit. He says that he merely commented that location might not be good because of a scheduled block-party and Elleuh (OP) responded very rudely and condescendingly. According to Bench there was a ladies only meetup earlier in the year that went off without any problems. So maybe it was her antagonizing attitude that riled these guys up.

In no way am I condoning what happened, it is damn obnoxious, but we know that it only takes a few people to raise a shit-storm, especially when a phone number is listed or if it gets cross-posted to 4chan.

I do hope that they end up having a good ladies only meetup.
