Regardless of whatever else this incident was, we're talking here about a teacher who had sex with one of her students. That's like a boss having sex with one of her employees, only worse because in addition to being the boss and in charge, she's also supposed to be a mentor.

When her student began attempting to win her interest, she should have first attempted to dissuade him, not because of his age or her age, but because she was a teacher, and he was her student. If that did not put a stop to the behavior, that would indicate a more serious issue with the student, meriting a higher level of intervention, either involving parents, school counselors, or both to get to the underlying cause (in this case, peer pressure.)

It should never, ever have gotten to the point of "it's okay to do this because he wants it." You don't do that as a mentor in a position of authority. It doesn't matter what transpires in a case like that, right up to the moment when the decision is made. As soon as you pass that point, as a mentor - a person in a position of authority who is supposed to be a guide - having sex with your charge, you have crossed the line into the realm of taking advantage.

Teachers and other mentors, especially of young people, need to be held to a standard that leaves no room for such a gross lapse in judgment.

That being, of course, that he himself - like the child abuser he is trying to excuse - used to have sex with his students. He claims that he doesn't do that any more.

This wasn't rape.

However, it was wildly inappropriate and I am disgusted (though, unsurprised) by Schwyzer's attempt to pass off any responsibility this woman had for her own actions. She was not assaulted, therefore she was fully capable of putting a stop to this. She didn't, therefore she deserves the consequences.

The boy probably was asking for it. There's no indication of rape. Provided two adults had consensual sex, I don't see what the problem is. I also don't see why we're concerned with what some dumbass thinks about the situation. This has nothing to do with the MRM. Just because it's a self-proclaimed feminist acting like an asshole doesn't mean it has anything to do with us. We are MRA's, not anti-feminists, and contrary to what anti-feminist MRA's might say, the being an MRA is not contingent upon being an anti-feminist.
