TL;DR: We need to talk about and logically critique the moral standards we, as men and as people, should expect of women as mothers, daughters, friends, potential dates, lovers, wives, citizens etc. Writing a website would be a good idea.

The recent talk on female entitlement, and some of my own discussions on facebook, got me thinking that we should maybe create a "good women project" of sorts, defining fair rules of conduct for women in their positions as mothers, daughters, friends, potential dates, lovers, wives, citizens and, overall, as sentient creatures endowed with a capacity for moral behaviour.

Now, feminists and libertarians may ask: "Who are you to impose morals on other people?" I am someone who understands that morals are universal are who is tired of the double standard of demanding that men cater to women while encouraging women to cultivate their selfish desire to be catered to. If one party adheres to high moral standards in their relationship with the other, and the other adheres to none in kind, what we have is exploitation. Likewise, when both parties do not adhere to any moral standards, what we have is mutual exploitation, two people using each other out of their own self-interest. The ideal scenario occurs when both people hold themselves up to high moral standards and do what is right rather than what is selfishly convenient.

The naive may also say: "All we need to do is judge them as we judge men." Yes, and I am sure some of us do that. And when we do that, we find that, to our surprise, many women do not expect to be judged like men, or to judge themselves as men judge other men. A lot more women than men are susceptible to social influence, and so given the pervasiveness of feminism, they have come to believe that they should not be subject to moral scrutiny. And I am sure that plenty of men, being themselves susceptible to social influence, do not recognize the double standards they apply when judging women, either.

There is, at present, little coherent advice out there for what good intents and actions men should reasonably expect from a good woman, and what bad intents and actions men should refuse to put up with it. There is little information out there to affirm that good men have a right to oppose certain attitudes and behaviours, and little provision of support for those who do. In the extreme, no site that I know of focuses on the experiences of male victims of maternal abuse.

Both to advise other men and encourage reasonable conduct on the part of women, we need to look at what our moral expectations are of other people, what our moral expectations are of ourselves, and state how the mindsets and conduct of various kinds of women diverge from these expectations in all aspects of their lives. We need to talk about how to spot the double standards, how to respond to them, how to constructively call women out on them and how to get our message across in the wider world. I propose we brainstorm on this reddit before actually setting up a website.

I know some people don't like rules. This thread is not for them. They might not like rules, but some people do recognize their value and can apply them in their daily lives. I also acknowledge that there are several kinds of people out there, each with their own means of discerning right and wrong, and so I expect there to be people who (like me) sport an egalitarian mindset as far as morality is concerned and people (e.g. traditional conservatives) who believe in specific gender roles. This is not a problem, as I believe it's useful to summarize each and every stance in order to identify the expectations of each and every kind of person out there.
