If they are sexually incompatible (as in, person 1 is fine with sex once a month, person 2 wants it five times a week) then they shouldn't get married.

Wouldn't that imply divorce and alimony shouldn't exist?

It is fascinating that we expect men to be monogamous yet don't act like they have a right to sex.

It is fascinating that we would never think of women demanding a contract like this.

Just what does marriage actually offer now, other than blind hope that someone who has all the power to screw you over - won't?

Where he screwed up was to say twice-a-week. He should have said "at least once a month". Then people would have said "that's all?" and he could say "see? it isn't unreasonable."

Hold the fucking phone here, people. This article, when it comes down to it, this article says nothing wrong. The author is right that the man is being tactless, but she then proceeds to basically take the side of the man!

The article asserts that the parties involved should be sexually compatible before committing to marriage, and that even if you don't feel like it, you should consider putting out if your partner is up for it.

All in all, this article seems to approach things pretty fairly. The comments, on the other hand, are outraged (and outrageous).

You know, I hate articles about that. They talk about how love should be "unconditional", but in my experience, a woman's love for a man is highly conditional. Also the references to romance; it's unromantic for a man to expect sex? Isn't it also unromantic for a woman to expect a man to pay for everything?

"And no individual can guarantee how they will feel about making love five years in the future, let alone ten or 20."

Isn't this exactly why he doesn't want to get married...

Funny how people that wouldn't bat an eye about enslaving a person financially through alimony or child support payments( and they want them regularly!) have such a problem with guaranteeing sex.
