Well, I can only offer my opinion based on my own observations.

In a nutshell (speaking in generalities), I'd put it this way:

The vast majority of young Japanese women don't want careers, yet they don't want to marry too early either. In their twenties they have a golden time of being able to live at home, working in low-pressure jobs, with their incomes their own to spend freely on a fun, responsibility-free lifestyle.

Marriage would mean an end to that lifestyle and the start of new responsibilities in the house, children, etc. (They will, however, actively desire this in their late twenties/early thirties when their biological clocks start ticking.) They don't plan to avoid marriage or children forever—in fact they are counting on a salaryman husband to make children and a secure future possible for them after this early adulthood ends. Some leave this too late.

For men, more are looking at their father's generation and not liking what they see. Dead-eyed men whose lives are used up by their companies, who become virtual strangers to their families because of excessively long work hours, who have virtually no time for a personal life. They are wary of structuring their lives around a full commitment to work (and, indirectly, marriage) because the price demanded is basically their whole waking life for several decades.

Other men can't even get a full-time position with a company because Japanese companies have increasingly made use of contract workers—who don't get pay rises, promotions, or job security. They are not desirable marriage prospects for many women.

This leaves a lot of men and women living at cross-purposes throughout their twenties (or even beyond). Some of these do compromise and marry in their late twenties/early thirties, but the women's child-bearing years are limited.

This has been in the media before. In this case, yes they interviewed an otaku, but the reality is that these men are simply focusing on other things. Can we really blame them either? Even if you cut out all the bullshit between the sexes and what is "required" for each side to in their cultures the incentive to put yourself out there is not all that good, especially when you've got good friends. My girlfriend of nearly 2.5 years just dumped me last week. No real warning and all she could give me was bullshit reasons that aren't good enough.

My point is that if you can make the choice to not be in a relationship or have sex to make your life easier and more fun, why not? I know i am wishing i hadn't bothered at this point. These men are living for themselves, instead of others... which to be honest is what a lot of western women do. Hell, that's why i am in the position i am now. If women can choose, why can't we? It shouldn't be only the man's burden to further society.

Lets just take the military and police for now. If look at the trend throughout history, their role as institutions are becoming increasingly irrelevant. A thousand years ago, you needed a gigantic standing army because countries invaded each other for territory all the time. That's just the way things worked. Even now, technology seeks to continually remove the necessity of human strength in the field through automation and drones. There will come a time when its nothing but generals leading robot armies.

I'm not sure what you mean by sexist. Is it sexist to say men are stronger than women? Is it sexist to say that women are by far the more important part in reproduction? Please clarify.

Where I think we may have common ground is the "criminalization of sexual interaction", tho I don't think I"d put it that way.

As for government, I think women are making huge headway in the middle/upper middle levels of government. Yeah, its true men still hold the highest positions, and I think this will remain the case in most things (such as business), mainly because to achieve the very top requires an outlier, and men are just wired to produce more outliers. More geniuses, but more damaged rejects as well.
