An interesting article. While I don't respect her decision, I do respect that throughout the article she acknowledges that she is a fraud for signing up. She didn't swallow the kool-aid and proclaim herself a victim just for being a woman; that said, I don't buy her rationalization either.

But then I realized I was a victim of something even more pernicious than discrimination: pride.

No. It wasn't pride (in any negative sense); it was integrity, self respect, and the genuine respect of others. That's what you gave up when you sold out. The money wasn't free and what you gave up in exchange for it was priceless.

My chief of operations, Jimmy, put the matter into perspective. "What are you, nuts?" he asked, reminding me of how many hoops we've jumped through and rings we've kissed over the years to get jobs. "How's this different?" he wanted to know. "If a job is set aside for guys named Jimmy, my name is Jimmy, I'll take it!" Jimmy was right: Business is business.

It is vastly different. Jumping through hoops to demonstrate that you meet requirements and kissing ass to create a good impression on a personal level is quite a long way from signing up to participate in systematic, government-sanctioned discrimination--based on sex and race--for personal benefit.

Saying "business is business" is no more an excuse for participating in unethical activities than "I was just following orders" is.

She came close to being completely honest, but to make it all the way she needed to come right out and admit that she betrayed her validly-held principles in order to whore herself out for cash (her analogy) with only personal gain as a motive.

As I sit here laid off from a job that I got a 4/5 performance review at, just this June... And I know that women who can't do the job still have it. I am heartbroken that performance is no longer a priority in American business practice.

I suppose it's not so different from the old days, when the incumbent supplier was apt to be the project manager's brother-in-law -- but it certainly isn't an improvement.

The old-time project manager wasn't forced to hire his brother-in-law, and he might even have had a chance of exercising some quality control over him. In this new, desperate rush to hire one-eyed Central Asians from south of the railroad tracks, price and quality necessarily weigh second at best.

So you see I dont' believe our feminsts ever were oppressed by a good old boy network, instead they were planning a good old girl network, paid for with your tax dollar and at a time when women earn 20% more than men.

I suppose they will have to dismantle this eventually. When the feminists think it's fair. We all know how to judge feminist fairness with regard to men and money, just look at child support.

Mens salary will be looked gross and womens net. Women will also be able to deduct things that are "women only" expenses.

So, womens salary will never equal mens to feminists by definition.

The definition of wasted money to a feminist is any money of which a man is in possesion.
