What was it that someone said during the OJ Simpson case? He'd rather have pawprints on a sidewalk proving a dog walked by than 12 witnesses who claimed they saw it or heard it barking? Something like that--because even prosecutors realize eyewitness testimony is unreliable.

Appeal is still open (top one). My guess is if the court grants him a new trial, the prosecutor will be forced to drop the charges, notwithstanding her asinine rhetoric.

Science DOES trump testimonies of people. humans can fail and only report from memory, evidence tested by science can show the result as many times as you want and not lie.

I'm pretty much a "law & order" kind of guy, but I am really disgusted at how vociferously prosecutors always seem to fight these kinds of re-examinations based on convincing new physical evidence.

If you want to re-open a conviction because you don't think the legal representation was good enough, or the jury wasn't allowed to consider the perp's abuse as a child - well you'll get an argument from me. But this is different. Dude is probably innocent.

Here is the problem. Prosecutors are not committed to pursuing truth, they are committed to prosecuting. They pursue convictions.
