Non-resident parents 'should pay direct out of wages' - This doesn't sound like a good idea

While I tend to agree with nearly all of the content posted on this subreddit, I believe that this is a positive step forward for children who live in a household for absent parents. If either party is responsible enough to help conceive or birth a child, then it is beyond that child's power to do anything about being the first to the egg.

While I am the product of a broken home, my Father (up until the age of 22 mind you), paid child support directly to my mother which at first I found unfair towards my father since it was bi-weekly custody until I was 17. However, following a disagreement between my father and I, I believe that he should have only paid for another year. That is, however, a separate argument.

I have a younger brother, 6 years my junior, who does not know who his father is, and my mother is irresponsible for not fulfilling that duty and respect towards my younger brother. That is, not providing him knowledge of his true biological father and his whereabouts. However, since child support in Canada is retroactive, this would be very beneficial to my mother's financial stability, as well as providing my brother with at the very least, monetary support to help raise a child he either does not know about, or does not care about in the least. Regardless, either of the two scenarios are what I believe to be not preferable in mine and my younger half-sibling's eyes. And through this method he may be able to get into contact with someone who should have been there from the start, rather than an enigma locked away in the vault that is my Mother's memory.

Of course, the blame falls solely on her and I only hope that she not only comes to realize this, but also becomes remorseful of her actions rather than diffusing the responsibility off onto my father and their ancient marital problems.

If women are allowed to make fathers of men who havent agreed that in advance, then shouldnt men be able to run away from their responsibities?

Isnt that fair? isnt that equality? equality to do harm? equality to deny responsibility?

Isnt it firstly the responsibility of women and mothers not to get pregnant with a thug or asshole in the first place, or to willfully become a single-mother? or to divorce because she's bored?

Isnt it right that women get their houses in order first, before moralizing to anyone else?

This will backfire when deadbeat moms actually have to pay their fair share (and can't fall back on the White Knight court system to ignore it).

I was quite impressed they kept gender out of the article (instead of just using "examples" of only men who can't pay) until, of course, the Prime Minister had to open his misandric mouth:

Last month, Prime Minister David Cameron said absent fathers should be "stigmatised" by society in the same way as drink-drivers.

I believe this prick said this on Father's Day no less.

Personally, as a child support payer, I appreciate the fact that they garnish my wages directly. Less hassle for me, and if she doesn't get her money the state is to blame. not me. All I have to do is show my check stubs.
