Honestly? She is a paragon of courage and a symbol of hope. Would YOU want to be a police chief, or even a simple policy officer, in a bordertown in mexico these days? You're asking to be killed, and in the most horrific ways imaginable.

I wouldn't wish that job on my worst enemy, and the fact she wanted to try to make a difference there? I'm sorry, even if she's young, even if she's naive, even if she didn't know what she was getting herself into, she doesn't deserve a bit of scorn from anyone here.

To protect her against militarily organized machine gun toting mass murdering drug gangs? She risks her father being viciously tortured to death.

She should be declared legally insane. She might as well get a chihuahua as a guard dog for the police station.

"saying publicly she was not targeting the cartels". WTF is she doing then as a police chief? And then they say "a women who defied the cartel's assassins"? WTF

So basically she was the first police chief in that city that had a lick of common sense. Well....strike that...taking the job in the first place ruined that.

To be fair, anyone who took that job was going to be killed sooner or later. She is wise to run, since she gets limited help from the military. Its an unwinnable war (against drugs) and we should be surrendering.
