A well-respected female participant on Men's Rights named "GirlWritesWhat" often describes feminism as a belief system based on faith. I have been calling Feminism a Goddess Cult for about a year now due to the same observation.

It's nearly impossible to have a rational conversation about gender issues with some feminists unless one agrees with EVERYTHING they say. I've bent over backwards at various times to politely discuss gender issues with feminists, and simply because my views slightly deviate from the religious dogma, I'm automatically a misogynist or at best, a neanderthal. I was called "worse than Hitler" by a feminist simply for pointing out more men were unemployed than women in the current recession. Really? Is that so controversial of a statement?

It seems like Feminism has become this emotional chimera, which can adopt positive attributes (when convenient) obfuscate negative results (also when convenient) and demand absolute agreement, depending on the frame of mind of the Feminist in question.

Thanks for your kind words, and I hope you'll forgive my slight rant. ;)

The vast majority of DV is not the patriarchal terrorist paradigm of a controlling and domineering man and a non-violent woman. In fact, matriarchal terrorism (at about 7% of violent relationships) is twice as common as the former.

Most domestic violence is reciprocal (with women hitting first half the time), and it IS due to anger management problems, poor conflict resolution skills, insecurity within relationships, personality disorders (often of both partners), alcoholism/drug abuse, inadequate coping mechanisms for external stressors, and a desire for control (both with men and women) over relationships and partners. Most domestic violence de-escalates over time (which is counter to what feminism's patriarchal terrorism theories say).

Again, women are twice as likely to be severely physically abusive toward non-violent partners than men are, and those women attribute their abuse to a need to control their partner. This means women are twice as likely as men to fit the profile on the men's page of the website in question.

The default assumption that women are always victims and men are always perpetrators is total bullshit.

No, I did not imply that. What I originally said was that there is a difference between violence and abuse. This is obvious. Now, that's not a defense of violence or anything, and as I pointed out violence can be people play fighting or fun wrestling--and those clearly are not examples of abuse. Abuse is a very specific type of intimate relationship violence that has to do with power and control.

This is not limited to men, although I think it's fairly obvious that the majority of abuse is perpetrated by men against women. But since abuse is about a very specific cycle of violence (not just physical), it is possible for anyone to be abused. The way to measure it properly is what I said: the effect on the victim. For example, if a woman slaps her husband out of anger, it could be abuse or it could be simple violence. Either is terrible, right? But the major point is that an act of violence in itself does not define abuse (and that's what this shitty article gets wrong from the start).
