Uh, not that way. Try this to break it to him a bit easier. Wait until he is home, relaxed and settled in. Make sure there is time in the day to talk stuff over. And start off with "So I missed my period..."

The gradual process is best.

Judging from your post, I'm not sure if you were trying for a child and this is finally it or if it was not planned and he has no idea it's coming. If it's been planned and you've been trying, make it a happy-happy surprise! If it's unplanned, then in private when you know he's comfortable.

If you want effect, then you can not go past having a long discussion about how many years in the future you should have kids, and all the reasons why now is not the right time... THEN say, "Surprise! Your gunna be a daddy!".

Of course, he would need to be the most mellow guy in the world with a great sense of humour to even begin to plan this cruel way of telling him. Any other guy, and you will need to call for an ambulance for a combined heart failure and a brain embolism.

Only advice I can give is be gentle...but be completely, bluntly honest and frank. If you have expectations, make them known from the start.

Also ask for his input... it may make him feel better.

You own him now. You know it. He'll know it the moment he hears the words. The minute you get pissed or things get tough you'll turn on him and the above will be the reality of it. Why fuck around with the niceties and lie to him now? How in the fuck does a 26 year old woman get "surprise" pregnant? Why the Hell wasn't a 30 year old man wearing a condom?
