What extent to you think men should have choices over their unborn child?

It is her body and she has the right to do whatever she want with her body. That includes killing any and all unwanted organisms that are inside of her.

However, it is his body, not her's and not the baby's. He has a right to choose what happens to that body. That includes the right to not have that body slave away to support either the mother or the child.

I think there should be a time period similar in length to the amount of time between conception and the last day that an abortion is legal. This period should start on the day when he is told that he is about to be/is already a father. During this time period he should have every right to give up all rights and responsibilities to the child. The process should be something like a single parent adoption, only here, the single parent happens to be the mother. There should also be a similar version that allows the mother to do the same thing in cases were she wants to carry the baby until it is born and then give it away to the father.

They should have the right to repudiate all rights and responsibilities concerning the child either before it is born, or as soon as they have evidence of paternity.

Personally, I think that ensuring children are provided for is a social necessity and, as such, should be the concern of the government. Whether a child is effectively missing a parent through death, neglect, rejection, illness, etc., the government should step in to ensure the child is not living in poverty. There really shouldn't ever be a need for parental child support.

there are probably a handful that do want to force abortions, but most would be completely content with just being able to opt-out of legal, moral, and financial responsibility

its alot more complicated when the mother wants the abortion and the father doesnt. Thats why i say if theres a document either parent should be able to sign it,

These days having sex doesn't necessarily mean you want to be a father, I don't think anyone should be forced to do as such. I'd support implementation of a "opt-out" of fathering. Women now have ultimate control over something that will affect both people and that's not very fair.

I think they should have the right to financial abortion, meaning if they don't want to be responsible for the child, they sign something saying they will never be a part of the child's life in any way, shape or form in exchange for not having any financial responsibility forced upon him. No one should have the right to force the mother of their child to have an abortion. If the mother doesn't want financial responsibility, they can put the child up for adoption and I feel a similar option should exist for men.

Men should have the option to refuse financial responsibility for an unwanted child, under fairly specific conditions:

They made clear their intent not to breed
They either used or were assured of contraception (or engaged exclusively in non-vaginal sex, etc)
They make no claim to access, custody or any other parental rights.
The sex was fully consensual.

I absolutely do NOT believe the father should have any say over what the woman does with her body. She can abort it, adopt it or keep it, and that's entirely up to her.

However, if the father has made clear that he wants no part of it, then she can keep it on her own dime

I also have no problem with the father sharing costs of the pregnancy or abortion.

I think everyone here is going to say that there should be no ability of a man to force a woman to get an actual abortion, but that men should be able to "abort" his responsibilities to the child.

I'm conflicted.

On the one hand, you have the rights of the father, who shouldn't be forced to be a parent when the mother can choose not to be. But, you then have the rights of the child (wholly innocent, no matter what the relationship between its parents). The child deserves to have some support from both parents, to live a reasonable life.

I dunno.

Men should have the same rights women do:

1-right to abort 2-right to keep 3-right to not be responsible for it ( Do mothers who give their child up for adoption have to pay child support? )

How much control? None. Furthermore, although I understand the inequities, I am for the best interests of the child, assuming that there is a biological link. I am totally against making a non-biological father pay child support to a whore mother for the progeny of another man.

I am anti abortion, and not for religious reasons. So that might color my opinion here.

But even if I weren't anti-abortion, I think I would feel the same way. Men should have equal rights over their children. The thought that a womans relationship with their child is more important or real than mine ever will be, just because of the 9 months in womb, is incredibly hateful to me.
