Posted this as a response elsewhere in the thread, but it sums up my feelings for a main comment as well:

You do realise that "children" includes male children as well? And that male children are more likely to die? So, by helping children, they are helping men.

As for women, it's focusing specifically on death during pregnancy and childbirth. If it were about breast cancer (which does not need any more funding or attention, ugh), I'd be all with you, but it's not. Women who die during pregnancy, the fetus also dies. Women who die during childbirth, the infant is deprived of the incredibly nutritious and important breastmilk--which definitely matters in the third-world countries this money is going to. Not to mention that a motherless child in that kind of society will be far more likely to die, and male children especially (since female orphans are often taken to be child prostitutes and sex slaves).

Men's diseases need to be addressed, but I don't think this is the kind of thing we should be attacking. Attack the biased funding for breast cancer, not something that's all about kids. This has nothing to do with diseases or life expectancy for women. It's about kids of all genders (which will help raise male life expectancy), and getting mothers and children safely through pregnancy and childbirth.

Kind of sad seeing all that money going to virtually every region but Europe, Australia, Canada, and the US. Many receiving money that have national health care, yet none of it gets thrown towards the US and our pathetic infant mortality rate.

Keep in mind those statistics cover wars, work accidents, and every jackass movie ever made.

I'm not saying its fair or reasonable by any stretch that $40billion would go specifically to women and children and exclude men, but, as someone already mentioned, men take greater risks. We're also the ones fighting the wars, joining gangs - or at least the violent aspects of gangs, and the primary gender working in factories and construction.

All of that leads to the life span being much lower than the womens'. What Men need, perhaps more than a $40billion medical plan, is for the wars to stop - including the drug war which fuels gang violence.
