I just hope a case like this doesn't become the new standard for how people view victims of child sexual abuse. My fear is that before anyone can help them, future victims will be demonized as much as this boy whether or not they act out the way he did. TV crime dramas already love playing out scenarios like this.

I hate how so many people immediately assume abused or molested children to be disturbed and beyond help. They essentially just punish them for something that was done to them by someone else when their needs are much more extensive and complex than that.

and did anyone else notice how the article paid almost NO attention to the biggest tragedy in this situation which was what could have drove this 7 year old to kill himself. He may have done some disturbing things but why isn't the biggest issue the fact that this boy is now DEAD?

To be fair, it does seem like he was skipping merrily down the road towards becoming some kind of sexual criminal. In any case, these weren't things you can chalk up to normal boyhood behavior. It sounded like he was groping other children of both genders without their consent.

However, the first line is incredibly unfortunate. Given the boy's behavior, he was probably a victim of repeated sexual assaults, to the point that he considered such behavior normal. The reporter was extremely lazy, not following the obvious clues that this boy was the victim of severe sexual abuse. There's more to it than mom being a junkie, that's for damn sure.
