It's highly refreshing to see a woman write an article like this.

She's spot on in her assessments: men are visually driven in attraction. Granted, some men are more visually driven than others, but still, it exists in all men. While I might be attracted to women that are somewhat chunky as well as thin women, not all men are.

While a woman's personality is a part of the attraction, most women fail to realize that it's not all of it - and often not the majority of it.

Sure, some men can deal with a mate gaining a lot of weight, but that's often the exception and not the rule.

Women complain about men being picky as far as looks are concerned, but don't seem to see any problem with their own demands. If he's demanding you look like a playboy bunny, yeah, he's got problems. If he expects you to be able to see your feet without a mirror, however, he has every right to do so. And you should have every right to expect that he will also continue to see his feet without an aid. Fair is fair after all.

Ask your average woman if she'd be willing to marry a guy who was 400lbs and covered in boils, but really smart and really sweet? It's all about what's on the inside, right? About who a person is beyond his or her looks?

Great article. Many women these days seem to think that any characteristic about them beyond their values and commitments are unimportant and therefore irrelevant in a relationship, and don't seem to understand that physical attraction is a NEED, just like financial security is one of their NEEDS.

Here's a good excerpt: Well, it's exhausting and tedious earning a living, too, but imagine countering your wife's "I'm happy with my weight, and don't intend to change it!" with "I'm happy with the money I've earned, and plan to take the rest of my life off to drink beer and wax my car." Just guessing, but her response probably wouldn't be turning the other chin.

I did not know what my wife looked like until we had our first date. We talked online and by phone for over a month. I new I was going to marry her before I met her. I met her at her at her apt building and waited in the lobby for the elevation to come down. She was the most beautiful women I had ever met. We have been married 8+ years.

While I agree that physical beauty is a plus, however it is not necessary.
