It’s the same sentiment we see feminists expressing now. Feminists don’t seem to see murdered men as victims, only the women who were not murdered but no longer have their husbands, boyfriends, fathers or sons to help provide for them. It seems the only value men have is defined by their ability to protect and provide for women.

My heart goes out to all men and women who have been killed or victimized by the Taliban.

It's nice to see that the title clearly says it's about men. And not "workers", "people", "miners"...

I haven't been following the MSM for a long time. Is this a first or have they started to acknowledge males as victims? BBC and/or other outlets?

I wouldn't believe a word of what the BBC says about the Taliban. No more than US media.

Having said that, in the 1990s the Pashtuns did dunk on the Hazaras a lot, and the Taliban made a rule for their religious police to arrest or harass men who didn't have a regulation length beard (three fingers). Now as it happens Hazara men can't generally grow a nice big beard. So if this was about events of 25 years ago it would be a fair assessment I guess. However back in the 1990s the Taliban could never unify the country like they did in the last few weeks, even with fighting, let alone without fighting. Even without having to fight a foreign army too.

Maybe they've changed? I don't know how else to explain how they managed to convince so many minority groups to trust them, including presumably former bitter enemies. I can tell you this; any number of minority groups in Afghanistan could have held them up for a lot longer than a few days had they wanted to. And back in the 1990s they did, for years. Each in their own little inaccessible mountainous valley.

The taliban probably cut a deal with Iran about the hazaras. They'll be fine.
