My boyfriend who is 23 and I (also 23) started dating again. I briefly moved back in with my parents after we decided to take a small break due to parental pressure from my side. My parents were fairly happy since they don’t like him. They despise him.

We met around four - five years ago in school, and were best friends for a long time until we decided dating last year, I’m certain he is the man of my life, and there’s no one else I’d rather be with other than him, we’ve talked about marriage and kids already, and have planned our future. He’s helped me a lot with self image and confidence, gave me my voice back and it just feels right whenever I’m with him. He’s very respectful and always compliments me.

He always takes my side and is there to support me, whenever I need him to be there, but my parents simply don’t like him. They have heard all sorts of things about him, and don’t believe what I tell them. Currently they think we are not together, and they’ve made it very clear that if we get together they’d cut me off.

I love my parents, but they have been a contributing factor to my declining mental health, and I don’t feel very welcome at home, as if I’m a guest. Last time my mom suspected I saw him, she literally packed my bags and put them outside & told me to leave.

I want to be with my boyfriend and start a family with him, and I plan to side with him regardless, however losing my family would really suck, not due to my mom, but mainly because of my father. My mom even explicitly said she wouldn’t want to meet my kids if I got them with my boyfriend.

I’m positive that they reason they’re not a fan is of his nationality, he’s Eastern European - whilst I’m Scandinavian. Any advice would be appreciated.
