That should go without saying. But I've encountered a lot of people who try to make gay men's rights about misogyny and feminism, as if gay men are hated for being "womanly". Which is wrong firstly because that's an inaccurate stereotype, that being gay therefore means being effeminate. But also shaming a man for not conforming to society's expectations of manliness is also misandry and not misogyny

But mainly, if it were just about hatred against homosexuality, lesbians would be hated as much as gay men. I got a message recently by someone claiming the opposite, saying that in fact lesbians suffer more brutally than gay men do

But the reality is that Gay men are the victims of violence more often. In places where homosexuality is illegal, it's either just gay male relationships that are legislated against or lesbians (if they're punished at all) face lighter legal consequences. And there's more prejudice against gay men than lesbians in every country

Considering these things, it is very misinformed to think that that homophobia against gay men is solely due to homophobia or God forbid misogyny, and that it has nothing to due with misandry. Of course it's due to misandry which is why it's specifically gay men far more so than lesbians who are targeted the most
