For women, how and when did you start to avoid men?

I got my period at 11 and big boobs followed.

I had my first creepy interaction with a dude around 8 or 9.

I started avoiding certain bus routes to avoid the dudes who hung in certain areas and always had something to say around 11/12.

Overall, I think my mother did a pretty good job of making me aware that men can be potentially dangerous. She taught me from the early age basic rules like don't talk to strangers, don't let him touch you, don't come near a parked car, don't open the door with your own keys if you think you're being followed etc. And as I got older there were more rules. Don't let yourself to be the only girl around drunk guys even if you know them well, don't go on a date to his place, don't let him know where you live too early on etc.

My own shitty experience that has started around my early teen years just confirmed that the rules actually made a lot of sense. I don't remember for sure, but I think was around 12-13, when I started getting catcalled and when I got harassed for the first time.

I began puberty a bit faster than the rest of my peers, I was in fourth grade. I did get weird comments from both genders actually. For as long as I can remember people told me I had great child bearing hips. When I was still a child and made me really uncomfortable. Also probably another reason I don’t want kids. I was hearing that as young as like 7 years old or so, family and strangers.

I wasn’t out in public as much so most of this happened during my job though once I hit my teenagers and into my twenties. Most of the time I was mistaken for a teenager and was asked why I wasn’t in school at the time so that didn’t help. Quite disgusting thinking of all the older men who hit on me, thinking I was in highschool. My store often had an older demographic so the most common interactions like that was with men 50+

Edit: The biggest affect on me though was when I was cheated on because it was someone I trusted. Can be hard not to avoid at times but I’m also working on that so I can be aware and wary but not paranoid lol

i never avoided it because i love male attention but i got big tits and my period at 12 yrs old and the male attentionof all ages followed immediately. are men shocked by this?

I live in a city. I'm wary about talking to either men or women who happen to be strangers. Women who approach me usually want money. Men who approach me want either money or sex.

I think I was 18 when I started being extra wary around strange men. That's because they used small talk as an opening to sexually assault me. Alot of these men said I looked 13 to them. College was the first time in my life I was in the same vicinity as adult men who were not teachers.

For me and from stories I’ve heard from friends; as soon as you’re old enough to go anywhere by yourself basically the gross men show up trying to hit on you. Its so gross.

I know this can be a sensitive topic for males here on PPD but according to TXC most adult women started experiencing creeping by adult males by the time they were 11-14.

Creeping has never bothered me personally. I have no idea if I was creeped on when I was 14, I couldn't care less tbh.
