The bill had overall strong Republican support. Those who felt selective service should discriminate against men were a minority.

A very relevant point the author omits is that a federal judge ruled that exempting women is unconstitutional. Regardless of how one feels about women registering, the fact is equally including women is in line with the judge’s ruling. Continuing to exempt women would be unconstitutional.

People should be free to voice their disagreement with a law, but it’s hard to argue we shouldn’t follow a constitutional ruling.

People should be free to voice their disagreement with a law, but it’s hard to argue we shouldn’t follow a constitutional ruling.

The problem was, the appeals judge ruled that only congress had the authority to make changes here. And now it's in congresses hands, and much faster than I would have expected.

But they did say that its most likely breaking the 5th Amendment.

[–]Suck-Less 52 points53 points54 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

One side expects us to be their punching bag, the other their wallets. What a wonderful choice… smh

[–]coolboy_24278 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

become libertarian lol

[–]Suck-Less 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am. Libertarian, egalitarian.

[–]tenchineuro 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

There are a few steps left though, the Senate and Biden.

I don't know about the Senate, but would Biden support this?

[–]GulchDale 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The loudest opposition to this is from the right so I don't see why it wouldn't pass.

[–]tenchineuro 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As I recall, the democrats don't have a clear majority in the senate, so it should be interesting to see what happens.

[–]disayle32 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Wrong question to ask. It should be "Will Biden's handlers tell him to support this?"

[–]tenchineuro 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fair point.

They let it get this far, so probably.

[–]Swaption20 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. Biden is the only president in history who listens to the advice of others.

[–]disayle32 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

You mean the advice that told him to completely screw up the withdrawal from Afghanistan, leaving a still unknown number of American citizens stranded there? Or the advice that told him to send a drone after a completely innocent family and kill them all? Or the advice that told him to announce a completely unconstitutional vaccine mandate that exempts members of Congress, the federal court system, their respective staff, and illegal immigrants at the border? Or the advice that told him to shut down construction on a pipeline, which has once again put our oil supply in the hands of OPEC? Biden couldn't listen his way out of a paper bag.

[–]Swaption20 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I’ll take all of those mistakes over a Russian agent with a fetish for dictators who tried to planned an insurrection and tried to overthrow a democratic election. Is Biden perfect, no. But I trust the he tries to do the right thing for the country.

[–]disayle32 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I trust the he tries to do the right thing for the country.

Oh, yes, he tries to do the right thing for the country if that country's name is "China".

[–]Swaption20 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Jesus Christ, we just came off of 4 years of a guy selling out our national interests to benefit himself and his family, including China where his daughter/wife was given preferential treatment for her “company”. And you think Biden is the sellout? At least he doesn’t side with Putin over his own intelligence agencies.

[–]disayle32 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

And who told you all that? The mainstream media who lied about something so innocuous as Trump feeding fish? 9 months in under Biden, prices have risen for most consumer goods, as well as gasoline thanks to the aforementioned pipeline closure, the border crisis is worse than it ever was under Trump, and we've suffered the most humiliating foreign policy disaster since the fall of Saigon. That's just scratching the surface.

[–]Gr1m5_OG 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What tf is Biden supposed to do about prices of consumer goods? He cant exactly go to the ebay scalpers and say "Lower your prices of the gpus please". He isnt able to control the market as much as you think then there is a massive problem everywhere. Idk what you're expecting from one guy, but even though he isnt some magical being who can fix the economy issues, and I wont deny hes probably made some mistakes(I dont like looking at news often it puts me in a bad mood but it's better than Trump causing children to die.

[–]Swaption20 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

And who told you that?

[–]disayle32 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

My eyes. Around this time a year ago, meat averaged about $5 per pound. Now it's up to $7 or $8. Gas was $2 a gallon or less, now it's $3 or more. As for Afghanistan, most of the lying, corrupt mainstream media aren't even trying to spin that as a win for the Biden administration. That's how you know it's the worst foreign policy disaster since the fall of Saigon. I don't even have to go to actual trustworthy sources--you know, the kind that didn't lie about Trump feeding fish--to see that. At least when Saigon fell, we were able to evacuate everyone and we didn't leave behind an entire army's worth of weapons, supplies, ammunition, and vehicles for the commies. If you voted for Biden, which I suspect you did, this is squarely on your shoulders. You voted for this. You. Not me. Own it.

[–]razormachine 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

HOW many US citizens died in withdrawal from Afghanistan?

[–]disayle32 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We don't know yet, because there are still citizens stranded there. Thanks, Biden administration.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Biden supports women in the Selective service. The only thing that could fuck things up are Senate conservatives this October voting on the floor.

[–]sgt_oddball_17 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I sort of understand their point, wanting to protect women (because women can have babies) . . .

HOWEVER

. . . Feminists have demanded equalty, and that means that women get drafted too.

Here is your &%$#@! equality Ladies. Stop treating it like it's a buffet: "Equal pay, yes we'll take that. Pay for the movie? Fxck that. Draft? That's yucky . . . "

[–]63daddy 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yep. Can’t cherry pick equality.

[–]tenchineuro 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately, they've been quite successful at it so far.

[–]Lasttoflinch 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I sort of understand their point, wanting to protect women (because women can have babies) . . .

Having babies is not an appropriate counterpart to conscription. The former is not a legal requirement while the latter is, and thank goodness for that.

It's almost as if the people (typically women) who bring up having offsprings as an equivalent to conscription think it's reasonable to mandate childbearing.

[–]tiredfromlife2019 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There is also the issue that women nowadays have few kids or no kids.

Fuck the cuckservatives. They are just as gynocentric as the Left.

[–]sgt_oddball_17 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, since they gave into Feminists on every other issue they can't complain about women being drafted now.

[–]tiredfromlife2019 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hope so and good.

[–]tenchineuro 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I sort of understand their point, wanting to protect women (because women can have babies) . . .

That seems to be one of the rationals for keeping women out of prison, that and 'kids need moms'.

I'm not convinced I will see a change in this attitude in my lifetime.

But as someone else noted, the birth rate in all western countries is well below replacement, if we're protecting women for procreation they'd better start living up to their responsibilities. :-)

[–]slipkid223 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

These are the same "Conservatives" who said nothing as the DOD allowed women in all combat positions. How can you scream Women are equal in everything, deserve to be eligible for all Military jobs but a potential draft is only for Men.

This is just another example of Female privilege. They want equal opportunity but not equal responsibility.

National Republicans are useless.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thats why i dont buy this "difference" argument. If biological differnces the hurdle, then why are women let in all combat positions? If you are good enough for that, you are good enough for a potential draft.

[–]disayle32 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Tradcons gonna tradcon.

[–]oppaipaidaisuki 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

At last.

[–]suicidejojo87 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In my time when I served in the military, I've seen many women serve along side with me. At some point, even my wife as well. Many men and women do it. So why is the draft all of a sudden a problem? People are really ridiculous.

[+]Liberal_On_Guns -16 points-15 points-14 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Instead of abolishing slavery, let's make sure women are slaves too because muh equality

[–]JannTosh12[S] 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

that's not what the opponents of this are saying. They are saying just keep it men only

[+]Liberal_On_Guns -12 points-11 points-10 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm mocking those who claim MRA who want to include women into the draft instead of abolishing conscription entirely. If you were to have a draft, including women would be stupid feminist virtue signaling. Women suck at fighting in wars, 99% of them couldn't pass a fitness test even if they were conscripted. Women shouldn't be included in the draft, not only because they're women and that would be stupid, but because conscription should not be a thing.

[–]red_philosopher 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd prefer to think of it as having a reason for Feminists to rally and back the banning of conscription entirely. We can force equal grounds, maybe we can benefit from it by having an ally on the road to eliminate it

[–]tenchineuro 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm mocking those who claim MRA who want to include women into the draft instead of abolishing conscription entirely.

And how would you go about that?

Either way we'd have equality, but apparently only one way is politically viable.

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There are other roles in the military aside from carrying 100 lbs of gear through a desert.

[–]Liberal_On_Guns -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Draft the men to work on subs, in the desert, on flight lines and put their lives at risk. Draft the women for the cushy desk jobs with internet and A/C because that's equality. It's just math.

[+]officerfriendlyrick7 -11 points-10 points-9 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Lol imagine these cute looking girls taken as prisoners of war, poor things have no idea what would happen to them.

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is not the right attitude to have.

[+]officerfriendlyrick7 -11 points-10 points-9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not sure how my attitude matters in war, I’m not American I don’t have a say in your politics.
