OP, what did you find out about retirement and spousal support? I'm 59 married 35 years, and not wealthy like yourself. I'll probably be eating dog food trying to live on half my pension. I'm also looking at living abroad to increase my standard of living should I decide to pull the trigger.

Retire first is my advice. The advice I have been given is if you can put three years into retirement then you are clean. I am not suggesting you hang in there 3 years, but retire now, have parties the whole she-bang, roll over the tax year, then file. By the time this thing sees a court room you will be at least six months retired - hard to make you go back.

Do you have a pension? Big differences in the social security check? You should at least consider that alimony may be in your future. I assume that once you go that you will give up a big paycheck. Do you live in a HCOL area? Can she get by on the income from $1.75M?

Yeah this fella needs an attorney big time. It’s funny how the more you make the more you risk. If she gets half your shit, that’s a big chunk of change. Half my shit I would barely bat an eye. I’m middle class in California, in a poor state I’d be upper middle class. But compared to OP, I’m broke as a joke. I’d still rather be in OP’s situation (obvi), but I’m happy my STBX can’t take me very much.
