Yes I know, calling someone a rapist is a really bad accusation, but one does not make the second okay either. Someone told me that being called a rapist is hurtful, which I know is true, but so is being called gold diggers and liar and so on. So if even if the woman who hears that doesn’t get sad, it won’t brings any nice feeling to the one who said it, and yes if you get randomly insulted you have the right to feel angry. Just like you when you get called a rapist. Yeah and maybe people could also start to acknowledge that there are different kind of generalization, and some are just straight up insult too and not needed in any way

I agree with you on the point you are trying to get across that we should all be more careful with generalizations. We should try to set a good example in this regard.

I cannot give you statistics or numbers, so maybe it's a confirmation bias to think of women that way. I understand that women who are not like that feel insulted by this generalization but unfortunately those are experiences that many men have with women today. I personally think the liberal consumer society that is becoming more and more superficial is to be blamed here because it is toxic both for men and women but in different ways. So if you are not a superficial, lying whore than please try to not feel attacked but be proud of yourself and try to inspire other women.

You insinuate that men shame women for not wearing makeup, wich is very obviously not true. Women are the ones with beauty magazines and makeup tutorials. Women are the ones trash talking one another behind their respective backs about their looks or clothes. To name a few examples: -my cousin was shamed by HER OWN MOTHER that she should put on makeup. The father was the one to roll his eyes and defend her. And all of this at a family gathering, so that must have been nice -10+ years later my mother badgered the same cousin for wearing a certain dress to a wedding we all attended. I was the one to tell my mother off. -a friend of mine told me that her mother was the one to badger her into wearing makeup. she hates the stuff -I saw women at parties become literall furies, when someone else they knew and obviously disliked, wore anything remotely the same as them. even the same colour would get them to go at each others throats.

No, it is definitely NOT men who set up beauty standards. And it is especially not men who enforce them.

And to say that all generalizations are the same is hypocrisy of the highest order. Because here's the difference: "kill all men" and "all men rape" literally got two boys (up to this point afaik) to take their own lives. First of all, I have been shamed for not wearing make up, and by some guys saying I was not feminine enough and the usual bullshit. So sorry to break it to you, but yes, it is true. Also, yes there are also misogynist women, of course. The sad part is to know that it’s an internalized idea that the value and power of women come from their beauty. And this is why there are some women as you described, but the beauty standards are mostly sets by media who are now selling oversexuality. As long as we are setting these unattainable standards, it will create more depression, health issues and competition about beauty, which is ridiculous. Though if there was no pressure to look like a model, no hair, perfect face, skinny, no skin marks and so on, there would not be so many women putting their look before everything. I have been criticized for not wearing bras, for not wearing make up and I do not care now, but we have to remember that teenager are more influençable. And actually yes, beauty standards where mostly made by men. Wanna talk about the banded feet fetish in China set by men, who made women sometimes unable to walk and always made them dependent of someone else ? Or about Russia who asked women to dress more appealing to their husband as a politic of natality? Definitely standards are made by society as a whole but let’s not forget that men had the most influence also in media for centuries. Yes because in both cases you see the repercussion only for you. What you feel like if you are called a rapist, and what you feel like if you do a generalization about women. Do you think that getting called a whore has no repercussion on the mental health of teenage girls? That the beauty standards doesn’t have repercussion either ? So very obviously lost on you but I'm going to try at least.

The fact that you were shamed by men in your surroundings sounds to me more like that you focused on singular instances of such "shaming" and ignored the 90% of men who didn't even look. I was bullied in school mostly by girls, using some vile methods that I wouldn't wish on anybody else. I was deathly afraid of even talking to girls until I was about 16 to 17 when I realized it was literally only four different girls over the span of 7 years and every other one was pleasantly neutral to me. And after some retrospection I again realized that they weren't mean to just myself. People (no matter the gender) can be assholes and they are not assholes to you because you're a woman or in my case a man; they are assholes because they are assholes and one can disregard them freely.
The whole "internalized misogyny" is such bullshit. Hate in whatever form it may come (sexism racism or whatever isms you can think of) is learned and often from a very young age. But since it is mostly mothers who take care of the child rearing in a "traditional" type of family, it is them who teach this. (If you answer to this with an "aha gatcha" comment, remember that that is what evolution intended for our species. The mother is child rearing while the father is hunting and protecting) Generally speaking: Women teach women and men teach men. And since it's women hating on other women, guess where they learned it from.
Again, No it is not men who set beauty standards. Please think and try to explain why every beauty magazine is run by women, written by women and aimed at women. Every singular man I have ever talked with about this doesn't give a single flying fuck. Almost every survey I have read over the years say the exact same thing, that 90+% of men don't care for makeup or dress a woman is wearing. Ah yes, the "unattainable standard" argument. What you might not realize living in your bubble of misogyny is that men are also affected by certain standards. I was made fun of for being even slightly overweight when I was younger. I was made fun of for not liking sports. I was shamed for the simple fact that I don't have a six pack and pecks that can be seen through a tight shirt. Everybody has standards and everybody is subjected to everybody else's standards. Women aren't the only ones who have to deal with putting up a front so they can be accepted by the community at large. So stop trying to be the victim and realize that everybody has the same problems.
The foot binding thing is such a bad argument. And it's obvious that you didn't even read the wiki page on it. One emperor with a foot fetish asked his concubine to dance for him on her tiptoes and wrote a poem about that. And shortly after that women imitated that by binding their feet to show status, after which lower class women would imitate that as well to try and find a high class husband. So to summarize, no it wasn't men who set this standard it was one singular dude with a foot fetish and a poem that made women think that having small feet is attractive and thus perpetuating a standard that they like a hive mind set up and enforced.

Free market/non government media has always been one thing: a representation of the general demographic. A good example for that would be german media. "Das Erste" "ZDF" and "BR3" (I currently live in Bavaria since the BR3) are mostly unbiased news and documentaries and other informational shows. The rest of them are very much full of borderline brainless shows and reality tv because that is the level of intelligence in the general populace

No where have I said that generalizations against women don't have repercussions. But here is a thing that you don't want to realize. Generalizing a group based on less than 1% of it isn't the same as generalizing a group based on 80+% of it. And especially not when we consider what they are generalised about.
Your argument is in essence that the one kicking someone in the shin is just as bad as the one shoving a kitchen knife into someone's chest.
Both things are obviously bad, but one thing is worse than the other one.
On top of all that, is that spawning movements and trends like "killallmen" and similar vile ones just because it's trendy and ignoring that the statistics don't support that one bit is at best ignorant and at worst duplicitous.

Alright so: I was sexually harassed during middle school by the dude of my classroom, the teacher would always say « it is natural for them, they are teenager boys full of hormones. Then I got assaulted by them. I did an apprenticeship, got harassed there by four coworkers because the boss would do nothing when there was complaint. The job I found after, my boss told me I was lucky to be paid the same as a man because I would never be as good as a man. Then he would also ask me for sex or very personal questions everyday. So my scholarity and work experiences were full of harassing, that makes it hard to ignore, they would also be the one trying to Shame me. It also happened though by catcalling where I was called a « beautiful future whore », when I was twelve years old, and so on. Because you believe that women can’t have internalized misogyny ? That is a naive way of thinking, also the role model is also given by the father, which means that an absent, sexist father, will give pretty much the idea that it is how it works. Evolution ? Wanna go so far back ? During the time people hunted, women used to hunt just as much as men, and hunting was about 20% of their used ressources. Also patriarchy was taken as a model for men and women, and patriarchy is not good with women. Yeah they don’t care yet a woman in a crop top going to school can be sent home or has to wear the t shirt of shame. Yet we can still have victim shaming after rapes depending on how the victime was dressed. You should go on the subreddit menwritingwomen to see a bit more about it. I think there is a difference when you generalize about things that a majority of ppl do (like driving a car) compared to when u generalize (saying all men are rapists) when in reality only 1.5% are which could also be said about women if you include the definition "forced to penetrate" a similar 1.4% statistic will be found. Imagine that! I don't think it's acceptable or accurate to make a generalization about a whole gender when only a small percentage of them do said thing. But when a LARGE percentage of them do it then it's at least more accurate. Saying most women wear makeup is NOT an inaccurate generalization to make. I don't have to know all women to know this. I just need to walk through the mall or look at (anything in) media. Hell I could probably say that over half the world population wears makeup and still be right since there are even some men who wear make up (see "some" when I refer to a smaller percentage I qualify it by using "some" I don't say "all". I think that for exemple, the law about making the abortion illegal in Texas is pretty horrible. And then, I am not from the USA, but from Switzerland where we still have a wage gap, where the time of a rapist in jail is determined by the time he took to rape someone, and where they can sometimes even walk free after a rape occurred. They help the female with her responsibility. First of all try to write women and see us as human instead of writing « female », then, it is just as much of a responsibility for the guy than for the woman. And then thirldy, get informations: there are some contraceptive underwear for men, pills, and vasectomies, so you guys have choices. Also before you start with the side effects, every contraceptions of women have side effects, everyone of them, yet it is still expected that only women take care of contraceptions. Last time I checked, it takes two to have a kid. So yes you do have some. A reproductive right for exemple is not having women putting obligations over your bodies like some men do about women and pregnancies. Pregnancy is the result of two people having sex, you are just as much responsible when it happens. Even more when you have ways to prevent it. Or you do not want to care about contraceptions ? Then you do not have your word to say about pregnancies, may it be about abortions or paying father taxes after that. You can not pretend there are no consequences at all at your act and blame only women. Being fertile is a curse when men think like you. Want this argument ? Yet but it is your body who shoots sperm, so you are responsible. As long as you don’t ejaculate, a woman can’t get pregnant, thus it is the man’s fault and even more since he can have prevented it.
