Here are several definitions ive found of the word need

"require (something) because it is essential or very important."

"a lack of something wanted or deemed necessary"

"to have to have something, or to want something very much"

As you can see, "must have or you will die" is not the only definition of need. Sex can very well be a need according to the definitions ive provided above, all coming from reputable dictionaries.

But, this actually kind of misses the point and is just a semantic argument (although part of it is a semantic question).

There are many things that are not required to live, that are deemed as very important. For example.

You can live without equal rights. You can live without equal pay. Heck you can live as a slave or a rape victim.

"Sex isnt a need" is just a smoothbrain way of dismissing the importance of the role sex plays in a man's life.

In closing,

Yes, sex meets one of the definitions of a need, and therefore can be said to be a need.

No, something doesnt need to be required to live in order to have importance

Yes, sex plays an integral part in the vast majority of men (and many people's lives overall) and is important

Pedanting and wrongly qualifying a need (usually in bad faith) as only something that is required to sustain life doesnt undo that.
