Boy scouts let Girls in, but not vice versa. "Girls are mixed area every day"

Tbh i don't care if boy scouts lets in girls. They are low on members first of all. Also, there are some activities that boy scouts does that girl scouts doesn't. The girls get put into a different patrol or troop than the boys, so it doesn't affect the boys at all. Who cares if they join. The problem is girl scouts doesn't let in boys. I think the best decision here is to get rid of boy and girl scouts and merge them into one.

I am a a bit dusty on the history but I think this happens because even though the share similar names girl scouts and boy scouts of America are different company's with the girl scouts being a form of the girl guides and the boy scouts being a form of the scout association. There are links between the two company's with connections over a hundred years old, but they are still different company's.

Yeah this is one that doesn't really bother me. I think the way it's headed is that the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) will eventually morph into simply Scouts of America and have both male and female troops. As a BSA scout dad who recently attended a jamboree with both male and female troops, I though thought it was perfect. Give all kids the same opportunities but don't mix the boys and girls when they're teenagers, because its just ... when it comes to camping and working together on team activities, it just seems to go so much more smoothly when you don't have all the complication of mixing the genders. It's why single-sex schools are becoming a big thing now.

We actually spoke to a lot of the girls who joined a BSA troop, and they indicated that the girl scouts was too much about baking cupcakes when they really wanted the types of experiences the Boy Scouts offers, and now that they can take advantage, they're loving it. So, who really cares if the Girl Scouts doesn't allow boys in? It feels like it's a dying institution anyway, because it represents a bygone era and doesn't really offer what the kids want.

“Girls are in a mixed gender space all of their lives,” Bartkowski said. “There are very few opportunities for girls to be in a single-gender space where they can rely on one another, build relationships with one another, be themselves, not have to compete for space, not have to show off in any kind of different way.”

Bartkowski said research shows that in schools, girls are less likely to raise their hands to answer questions in class if they don’t feel like they have the “perfect” answer. On the other hand, boys often just raise their hand and figure it out as they go. She said part of the Girl Scouts’ mission is to give girls that confidence to speak up.

“We want our girls to make mistakes and learn how to pick themselves up and go forward. We want them to find their voice and be able to speak their mind and speak their own truth. So those are all things that are done better in a girl only space,” Bartowski said.

i agree with many points raised here except the speak their own truth like truth differs from person to person or something
