You're taking a rather negative view of the posts there, there is a decent amount of support for anti MGM sentiment. Most of the negative responses are of the type "Don't bring men's issues into this female discussion," rather than being pro MGM.

Regardless, I personally can't muster much outrage about FGM. Sorry. There's a lot of fucked up shit that happens in oppressive shitholes. I can't spend every waking moment agonizing over it, especially when I can't do anything about it, and ESPECIALLY when the same thing happens in my backyard (but to boys, not girls) and no one bats an eye. That's imo the really telling thing about this discussion, how people (women especially) will get worked into an absolute furor over things that happen to women they will never meet 5000 miles away, and stay completely silent about the abuses that happen to their own (male) friends and family.

I think it has to do with severity. Oh, mgm isn't so bad, look at fgm. Now, while true, these people need to realise that both are child abuse; one being 'worse' shouldn't take away from the other. Both need to stop. Cutting bits off kids for hygiene, for culture, for religion, whatever, is monstrous.
