men are sick of being told that we're evil and women get extra help and are constantly encouraged...This doesn't happen for our young men.

Reminds me of the days when in college and when I was a college admin. Back in the 80's, most of the guys I was in college were already proficient in their chosen field by the time they entered college. Probably at least on par with the professors supposedly teaching them. Most were just there doing the busy work to get a piece of paper to wave in front of an HR shill.

So forward to the 90's. At that point I was a college dean, as in head of a department. In something we saw happen frequently, a girl had graduated with an English degree while mom and dad were 'under the impression' she was getting a pre-med degree. Anyways she's up at our front desk, and moms having a complete meltdown at our staff about it. Mom leaves screaming something about suing and owning the school when she's done. We never heard from either of them again.

Fast forward to now. The daughters looking at schools. We have several name brand schools close by. Due to her being a minor she has to go with my tax returns, and due to that she can expect almost no financial aid. The name brand schools all came up with a close figure of $480,000 for a four year degree. The local tech school school figured it at around $8,000 up front for a two year degree, which would be guaranteed to transfer to the four year schools. She stated it's a no brainer, especially since she'd prefer to do it all online.

But that's the contrast. In the 80's guys were already being pushed to explore prior to college, and just saw the degree as a means to an end. Then somehow it got into folks heads that everyone needs a college degree. Then there's an influx of easy loan money and thus an influx of kids who are just in a program to please mom and dad. In turn the schools created all these idiotic fluff degrees and courses to cope with students who really would have been better off elsewhere.

The problem with university is that the people awarding the degrees are also the people providing the tuition. Assessment and training should be completely separate. Imagine if driving schools could issue driving licences. If assessment were separated from training, the cost of a university education would fall through the floor. It's an abusive monopoly.
