It's interesting to see a cry for equality and special treatment at the same time. Sorry hunny that ship sailed. You can open your own door like everyone else. Queen

Equity is what women really want
[–]ruffyamaharyder 32 points33 points34 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Do women still want equality?
[–]CrunchyyTaco 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
No. They want equity. Which is different.
[–]ruffyamaharyder 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yep, I agree. They feel entitled to equity.
[+]CrunchyyTaco -11 points-10 points-9 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Aren't we all entitled to it?
[–]ruffyamaharyder 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No. Like respect - you earn equity.
This doesn't include things like common decency.
[–]CrunchyyTaco 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Well i think people should be treated fairly. Now that does not necessarily mean treated well. Just fair.
Use this post for an example. People dont open car doors for men, so for it to be fair people shouldnt open car doors for women.
[–]Moon-D0G 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No they want liquidity
[–]makeadolfgreatagain 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I tried googling it but I'm stupid, what is equity in the context of these hoes?
[–]CrunchyyTaco 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Google equality vs equity and click images.
An example would be that there is a building with stairs, a person in a wheelchair wants in the building. Right now he has equality, we all get stairs so its equal. Equity would be building that person a ramp so the end result is the same, which would be to go inside the building.

Well apparently if we open a car door for a women then it’s sexist now and not good manners
[–]longshanks44 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep. Guys just can’t win sometimes…
[–]fretit 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Now? Decades ago I once held a building's door open for a college-age woman, as I still do for any man or woman behind me, and I got lectured that she was perfectly capable of opening the door all by herself. I thought it was a fluke back then and understood what it was all about only years later. So sometimes when they look the part, I hesitate. Maybe I should just stop doing it altogether and hold the door open only for other men.
[–]SansyBoy14 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same, I grew up learning to open the door for anyone and everyone, and now people keep saying I’m sexist for doing it. It makes no fucking sense
[–]balonart 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I briefly dated a feminist a few years back. Not one of these militant types. Rather, one of the basic but attractive, suburban types in college that started buying into the propaganda in her humanities classes.
I'd open her car door and she'd seem 'upset' about something. She didn't say what it was and I'd never have guessed. Till one night, I go to open and she asks disappointingly, "Why do you do that?!"
"What? Open your car door?" I asked perplexed.
"Yeah," she responded, "It's not the 1950s you know."
Needless to say, that relationship was soon dissolved shortly thereafter for a collection of reasons.
[–]Bone-Juice 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Imagine someone being offended because you were doing something nice for them.
[–]DaggerMoth 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I had a girlfriend who basically said the same thing. So I would purposely not hold doors open or just open them just wide enough so I could sneak through leaving her to open her own door like she wanted.
[–]PsychologicalExam409 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m going to start doing that😂😂
[–]xmetalmanx013 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Mangobreeder[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Several hundred people disagree with you. Just downvote it and move on.
[–]cgduncan 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Most people upvote anything that makes them chuckle. Regardless of whether it fits the sub or not. Upvotes are never an indication of quality or of fitting the sub.
[–]boredquince 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Just like dislikes were not an indication of quality on YouTube right? Good luck now finding good tutorials.
[–]cgduncan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's a whole different beast. I don't use the like button on Facebook the same way I use it on youtube. I don't use the dislike button on YouTube the same way I use the downvote button.
It's a complicated system, with a lot of nuance, and algorithms and luck and all that, but overall, more upvotes doesn't mean higher quality. It just means more people saw it and said "ha, nice" and hit Up. It's the reason you see a common phrase in many subs "this sub has gone downhill". Cause nobody takes the time to think about whether a picture or video or whatever is actually a good fit for the sub, they just scroll through their front page and hit up if they like it.
Same reason the best movies aren't the ones that make the most money. Heck, "live action lion king" made a billion, but it was a bad idea for a movie, with bad artistic and storytelling decisions.
I'm getting away from myself, but you get the idea.
[–]Mangobreeder[S] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Id argue that an upvote is a sign of quality.
[–]Juan_Dollar_Taco 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sometimes, it depends on the post. Other times it’s people just blindly upvoting.
[+]Juan_Dollar_Taco -13 points-12 points-11 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Those several hundred people must be dumb then cause this is a common repost and it’s not even real.
[–]longshanks44 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Wait… it’s not real? Dammit.
[–]Mangobreeder[S] -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]IcySolo -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
They aren't made out of heavy American steel. It wasn't chivalry, it was practicality. Plus, men never wanted anyone fucking with their cars. Women have earned the equal right to open their doors. Or even own their own cars now. Let's keep history in perspective here. Women couldn't even open bank accounts without cosignatures from their husband or father at one point.
[–]rtechie1 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No, it's a courtesy towards women. That's why you open EVERY door.
And it's not really chivalry, it's a subtle form of flexing. By opening a door for a woman you're indicating to those around that this is YOUR woman, you don't necessarily open the door for random women. (Well I, open the door for random strangers, including men. But I'm nice that way.)
[–]IcySolo 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yea. That's simple courtesy. Not chivalry. I'm a polite person. I'm just following the logic of the post. Providing reminders why this isn't the "good ole days" anymore.

I'll happily open doors for my woman. Happily! But will she do female traditional things for me? Nope. So guess what...
[–]Firephox 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I open the car door for my wife all the time. She really appreciates it. One time I did it in front of her work colleagues and they thought that I did it just because they were watching. She set them straight. She always treats me with love and respect so I treat her the same way.

Probably the same type of person who spends all her time crying about "gender inequality" and the alleged "patriarchy" on Twitter, then goes for a meal with a guy at an expensive restaurant and orders the most expensive meal expecting the guy to pay for it all.

[–]Warder766312 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely, but it’s not because the person is a woman. It’s mainly for the elderly, friends or family. I’ve learned nothing good ever comes from chivalry. It’s just a way for society to use men more.
