We’ve all been in relationships we regret, but to have sex, get pregnant, not use plan B, not get an abortion, not give the child up for adoption, AND it’s all with a significantly sub-optimal partner you chose, who isn’t a long-term fit for you?

That is simply lying in the bed you made.

To be clear, I acknowledge the myriad examples that don’t fit this narrative (for example, didn’t know they were pregnant soon enough for plan B, or even an abortion in many states, or not being able to afford one).

I used that example because it does happen that way, and it’s defended as though it’s not a choice in any way on the woman’s part.

We all make mistakes, but we don’t have to bend over backwards to make single mom’s appealing, as though there aren’t women who made different decisions that are more conducive to a preferable arrangement for most single men.

I also acknowledge this dynamic when the genders are reversed, as well as with any combination of genders and partners.

There is somebody out there for everyone.

Why do you think women are gatekeepers to relationships? Do you not choose to gatekeep who you date as well? You're giving someone else far too much power in your life if you let them gatekeep your choices.

Single motherhood is the greatest scourge on western society today. It begets drug addiction, violent criminals,homelessness, poverty, more single mothers, and suicide.

Stay away from women who have a history of doing this and do not encourage this behavior by helping them.

Anyone willing to be that flippant with their womb and their life in spite of statistics and common sense is radioactive.

Ok I'm going to bring up a huge one on here, but it needs to be said. We, as a society blame a 14 year old girl for getting knocked up and being a single mother when the father (80% of the time according to the last statistics I read) was 22 or over. First of all, this should be pedophile behavior. Second, age of consent means 2 16 years old have the legal ability to consent. Not for a 25 year old to be a pedophile.
Stop blaming the parent that actually stayed, at least one of them did. I have daughters, I've seen exactly how an older man love bombed, made promises, made grand plans and then ran a soon as he got her. He was almost 19, she was 14. Because of the Romeo and Juliet law, nothing we could do. Her frontal lobe was not even fully developed, but she is the one that grew up and did what she needed to do. Are there scenarios where a woman walks away with the children? Absolutely. There are also men who walk away. Being a single parent means you grew up and took responsibility either way. Whether a single mom or a single dad. Stop acting like it is a bad thing.
