I get your feeling and concern, but if your and her attorney are cooperating and not at each other's throats, this is headed towards being done and dusted.

Here's what probably is happening - they're looking for places of compromise and say - you recommend your client to accept A and I'll recommend my client to accept B and then we'll settle this thing so they can get on with their lives.

Finally, lawyers have no obligation to include you in their communications with one another. Their duty is to keep you reasonably informed.

Now if the bill comes and the attorney-attorney communications are massively charged - that's a different issue and you need to question it. They shouldn't be talking NFL playoffs on your dime unless you're a season ticket holder.

In short, you may think you want to be in the loop, but really you don't.

Attorney is your employee. You are the boss. Do you manage your employee effectively? Is your attorney mediator or litigator? Do you know the difference? Does your attorney practice family law exclusively, most of the time in your courthouse?Did you communicate goals clearly? Do you have complete copy of case file? Did you ensure that trial date is scheduled - before any negotiations through attorneys started?
