I believe that FDS ladies are well acquainted with the way red-pill (or black-pill) communities are overtly damaging, sexist, or outright predatory to women. When I read through this subreddit, a lot of the FDS-ers are well aware of tactics such as negging or physical escalation.
I think subtler aspects of the red-pill should be discussed, because more positive aspects of the red pill online culture can disguise the more harmful aspects. The more agreeable aspects of red-pill are what I call "red-pill lite." That is, this aspect of red-pill culture seemingly builds up men and even tries to understand the female perspective, but it just barely disguises the rage and simmering bitterness pulsing in the background. They don't discuss humiliating or sexually degrading women, but they are fixated on "female accountability". They don't want men to act irresponsibly - they want to awaken the "divine masculine". They do not believe women are stupid, but men are designed to be "rational".
Here are some signs of Red-Pill Lite culture:
- They affect sympathy to women's struggles around rape, domestic violence, or safety, though they do not have involved, complex discussions about these topics. They just mention them briefly to check off the I am not a dumpster fire box. They do not examine how these struggles affect women and their behavior around men.
- They believe men need to step up and take control of their own lives, but they do not necessarily stop at the goal at being better men. Go deeper into red-pill lite and it will become clear that the ultimate goal is to have women submit to them or give them more sex.
- They are extremely pre-occupied with accountability. They will seemingly assert that accountability should be equally shared between men and women, but the discussions on accountability will somehow always involve women. For example, if women get into bad relationships, it's up to the woman to learn how to choose better. The man's cruelty to her will not feature into the discussion.
- They play nice with bad actors. Red-Pill Lite figureheads do not overtly agree with people like Kevin Samuels, and they may even verbally disagree with him. But they sympathize with him or quote him when they want to, or recreate his entertainment by interviewing/critiquing people on YouTube to discuss their relationship struggles.
- They do not overtly endorse negging or other manipulation tactics, and they may even advise men not to do these things. But they advise men to do things that are just a step below outright manipulation or clear misbehavior: "Be bRuTaLLy HonEst." "You don't need to care how she feels, just do it because you believe in it." "Her feelings don't matter." "You can respect women. Just respect yourself a little bit more." "It's better to offend her than to be boring." These suggestions push men to exhibit dominance-seeking behaviors rather than connecting behaviors.
- Even when they seem reasonable, the commenters or their followers seem to be incredibly vicious. Their content may be superficially understandable, but the viewers are naturally responding to something deeper, more sinister, in the material.
- They draw false equivalences or get emotionally pre-occupied with problems that need more perspective. For example, they may feel upset that a man murdered a woman, but they will react by observing that women should greet men and smile at them. They understand that men use benign interactions to creep on women, but they will seethe for hours on how women ignore men in the street.
Examples of Red-Pill Lite include: Aba and Preach (YouTubers), Chris Williamson (podcaster), many, many Christian self-help gurus, potentially Jordan Peterson, and many masculinity and femininity dating coaches. What examples have you seen of red-pill lite seeping into culture, and what impact do you think it has on dating?
