UK book shop chain, Waterstones, doing a terrific job of highlighting the inequality of modern media.

In case you're interested, the author of "I Hate Men" is Pauline Harmange

I'm at a loss to explain why these people are glorified.

Do not feed the trolls. She was a nobody before someone tried to have her book banned.

She feeds on negative attention. Forget her name. Forget her book. She does not exist.

I would be staggred if she ever gets any intamacy from a male in her life ever. I thnk all men would run a mile once they had met her.

I wandered where the hatred of men came from.

Yeah I get a kick out of going to the bookstore sometimes and asking for the women's rights section once they take me there I asked him if they can take me to the men's rights section.

If they tried to defend this BS I open up the red pill Gates on them

As much as I hate the fact that these damn cursed books exist I’d rather not see them burned or banned we are better than that and don’t try to silence free speech just because someone has an opinion we don’t like.

Do tell us all about the life-threatening misogyny that exists in western societies. Please do.

Maybe focus on the Third World where women really are oppressed. Oh yeah, nobody cares about that do they? They just want to destroy the nuclear western family and whine whine whine about nothing.

[–]mikesteane 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Maybe focus on the Third World where women really are oppressed.

Are you saying they have it worse than men? That would require some evidence.

[–]MiddleReasonable647 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

In many places they do. Are you saying otherwise? Have you seen women who are wrapped head to toe in burqas? And who are subjugated by Islam by Sharia law?! Beheadings based on the testimony of one man? Married off at a young age, unwillingly? FGM?! No rights compared to men? Come on guy. Be somewhat fair if you can force yourself to do that.

[–]mikesteane 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

Beheadings based on the testimony of one man?

Do you have figures for executions by gender? You'll probably find that male executions outnumber female executions anywhere you look. Why do you think parents have their daughters married off? Why would they do that? What about MGM? No rights compared to men? You need to be specific here; countries and specific laws. It's on you to give the evidence, then I can debate it. It is not up to me to prove the negative. However, to get an alternative to the standard misrepresentation of women's issues in far off places, see Karen Straughan's "When Female Privilege Backfires" video transcript available here There is always more to it whenever females as a group are presented as being victimised.

[–]MiddleReasonable647 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Give it a rest. I’m talking about Muslim Third World Sharia Law culture. Do your own research. Thanks.

[–]mikesteane 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

On the contrary, you are not talking about Muslim Third World Sharia Law, you are avoiding doing so. If you actually did so, you would find out that there is more to everything than the Western media generally presents. We only hear about female victims of honor killings, men are probably a large majority of the actual victims. They are also subject to genital mutilation in all Muslim countries, unlike women. They have enormous responsibilities which are rarely referred to. As a single example, we've all heard of triple talaq, but we very rarely hear about the other side of the equation, and I doubt whether you could tell me what the word "mahr" means without looking it up.

In which case YOU should do YOUR research.

[–]KajmanHub987 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

men are probably a large majority of the actual victims.

Now it's your turn with the evidence.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, it's still on you to produce evidence for your original assertions, for which you have still produced no evidence whatever. You have also not addressed any of my questions.

[–]KajmanHub987 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Okey. My evidence for my original claim, wich is "now it's your turn for the evidence" is lack of evidence shown in your claim that more men are victims.

And no, even if i was the original guy, the burden of proof would not be ONLY on me, because you, as a responce to that guys claim, made a claim of your own, so now not only that guy has to support his argument, but you have to back up yours.

How about 'Mediocre - the Dangerous Legacy of White Male Power' by Ijeoma Oluo? How is this racist and misandrist nonsense even allowed, in a situation where men cannot even defend themselves without facing blanket accusations of misogyny? This book, badly written by an apparently insecure woman, is a defamation of the vast majority of great scientists, doctors, philosophers, musicians, painters... and ignores non-white power structures in Africa, the Middle East and South-East Asia, none of which would give cause for optimism. Up until a few years ago, I used to believe that feminists/social justice warriors were a bad joke. But, it was always obvious that feminism could never succeed in its aims without enough men on board. The end game seems to be pitting male against male, ready to rush in and fill the power vacuum which will result from the casualties. These books will form part of the biased 'Gender Studies' courses which are, presently, poisoning the minds of many impressionable females. And, too many young men will be eager to agree with the propaganda, as a trade-off to getting their leg over. A bit like Laura Bates' poor husband. Probably.

I can only hope that this display is a sarcastic way of pointing out that hypocrisy.

[–]Ok-Earth-9836[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I put the books there for the photo - not the bookshop. However they were both on the same shelf - just a few books apart.

[–]skolopendron 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Aaaaaand my hopes are crushed.

[–]TendieDinner777 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I would move those books next to each other on the shelf

[–]Ok-Earth-9836[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I threw I Hate Men behind a radiator. Not going to put that back on the shelf and spread hate.
