She talks about how Woman/feminists campaigned for stuff in the 70's but they didn't have to deal with the same level of shaming and demonization that men do. The shame used against women tends to be looking down on them but the shame men deal with now is marking men as evil. Even an incel(which is someone that needs help) is looked upon as evil. The media also is against men and coordinated at a level it's never been before which is another unique challenge men face.

Most of the stuff in the interview was good but it reads mostly as her just basically being fair on things where men have been denied fairness. But in a world where most political people are anti-men a political person that plays it fair can feel like a men's rights supporter.

I liked a couple of things the interviewer said:

  1. "“men’s greatest weakness is their facade of strength. Women's greatest strength is their facade of weakness". When you are the victim you can forever ‘punch up’ – literally and politically – and feel good about it. You never have to worry you have done the wrong thing, because you are always the victim."

  2. "JB: But given there exists a Minister for Women, would a Minister for Men provide balance?

AW: What would provide balance would be getting rid of a Minister for Women. I don't think there should be one"

I never heard that 1st saying but it's a good one. On the point 2 he goes to show why men react the way they do, because society won't admit the women's minister doesn't make sense so then it becomes the practical move to add a men's minister.

“men’s greatest weakness is their facade of strength. Women's greatest strength is their facade of weakness"

I never heard that 1st saying but it's a good one.

It's a quote from Will Farrell's The Myth of Male Power.

Thanks for the info.

Flat out and categorically disagree.

Politicians don't hear what men do say. They really don't care.

EDIT: Why thank you kind stranger.

I think speaking up has it's rewards:

Default 50/50 custody is becoming more and more common.

Kangaroo Courts have been dealt with by Betsy DeVoos

Andrew Yang cries out about how badly boys and men are doing in college

The word "misandry" is catching on more and more, seen in articles.

I can't think of anything that the MRM aimed for that hasn't made some progress.

We even had selective service up for national debate this year.

How can men be heard when they are shouted down by women desperate to cling onto their privileges, using ad hominem, strawman, gaslighting and other argument tactics that are never called out; threatened with false allegations if they defy what women want; by women using implicit extortion in their power over access to sex to suppress what men want; villifying men who have to fight the villification before they can speak about their issues; women acting as victims attracting all the attention away from mens issues and against men; and women plus white knights now being a majority against men?

Men are speaking in this and other forums, but the politicians don't care because men are in a minority.

She's lying.

Men do say all those things. You don't get this excuse Ann Widdecombe. This isn't about a lack of talking. The truth is far darker than Widdecombe's copout: society does not give a fuck about male suffering until it significantly affects them.

As long as enough men are being fed into the woodchipper of dumb ass wars, mines, and factories, the ruling elite are perfectly happy. When they start to run out of draft horses is when they care.

Now is the time when that's happening. Men are simply dropping out. They're dropping out of the workforce, they're dropping out of colleges, and they're dropping out of the dating/marrying markets. They would prefer to live without producing excess for others to steal or otherwise live off of. We already see the effects of that now.

Notice the quickening pace of your shitlib/tradcon gynocentric writer lambasting men with "man up!" and "where are all the good men?!" articles. Do not sacrifice yourself or your desires for the benefit of a society or ruling elite who hates you and is replacing you or a partner who essentially does the same.

And again, a woman talking on topics that she should listen instead.

She was actually the best advocate for fathers in the whole of Parliament until Philip Davies burst onto the scene. She would regularly work with groups such as Fathers4Justice

The problem being, she is a she. Not one of us by definition, therefore cannot be verified not to be acting out of self-interest instead of on our behalf.

Thus, cannot be trusted.

Thats one.

Two, she is a she. Therefore, as not one of us by definition, cannot be trusted not to skew the narrative in favour of women. Even if she speaks about a compromise, chances are it will be favourable to women, on our expense, in some way. Which is not something id be willing to accept.

Three, she is not a man. She cannot possibly fully KNOW our issues. She might get closez but its not enough.

She should not speak "for us". She should give platform to a man, for HIM to speak about issues of MEN. And she should listen, instead. Why? Because a man will know those issues better, and will have an jnherent interest - or at least, should - for the proper resolution of the issue. Proper for men, that is.

[–]Epipha-tree 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm in complete disagreement. How can she give her platform to a man? She has a platform and is using it to speak up for men, how is that a bad thing? You don't have to be a man to be part of the conversation about men. The more people speaking up the better, doesn't matter who they are.

She doesn't need to be trusted, when she starts doing stuff I don't agree with, I'll criticise her then

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you dont trust someone, you really would choose / allow that person to fix your issues / problems? Person that cannot inherently understand them, and never had to actually live them?

Suit yourself. Im not an idiot of that calibre. Resolving our issues should be under our total unilateral control of narrative regarding and surrounding those issues, and she cannot guarantee that.

How can she give platform to a man to speak? Have him speak, be there with him, and validate and defend HIS words. Without apropriating our issues for her personal gain in any way.

Its easy. Just takes real will to help and to listen.

[–]Epipha-tree 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's a politician, how am I supposed to trust her beyond what she says? I'm not going to not trust her just because she is a woman. And I'm not going to inherently trust a dude just for being a dude. Total unilateral control of narrative? What? I'm here for men's rights, not whatever that is! Yeah but what man? All she can do is speak or not speak. Her not speaking doesnt mean her platform just automatically goes to the nearest man or something. I'd rather anyone speak up about men's issues than not say anything. We wouldn't be having this conversation if not for her, it's not like she's taking up a man's space. What is her personal gain? She's a 74 year old retired politician.

Edit: and she is not single handedly fixing my issues, she's just talking about issues. There's no question of trust, I'm not sure why you are talking about trust in the first place. As if she is now going to go behind doors and do the bidding of men's rights or not
