The reduction of UTIs and yeast infections is used to justify circumcision (which as we all know is genital mutilation). The interesting thing is the reduction of discharge, UTIs and yeast infections is used to justify FGM in countries where it is performed. Stop. Do you agree that breast cancer received way more funding? Just say at least “yes” to that.
It could be that some of the disparity made sense, given that younger women than tend to get breast cancer than men get prostate cancer. However, there is large overlap.
Also, many many men die of prostate cancer and not from other stuff. Also, many women die WITH breast cancer and not from it. They are similar in that many women who are treated might not have needed treatment, we just don’t know which will die of it and which won’t. Nobody is willing to do a study comparing two groups. With men, people are quite willing to do such stratified studies because the age group is much older on average for prostate cancer.

If a woman has a tiny area of breast cancer on a mammogram, proved by biopsy, they want it OUT. Doctors are willing to take out all such cancers because the patients are young, the risks of watching too high, and most such removals do not leave big scars, and reconstruction is possible even if there is a small to moderate sized lump.
Contrariwise, taking out a prostate gland leads to urinary incontinence and impotence, so removal is not always so simple, and the men are older, so the paradigm is becoming “let’s just watch”. Well, you might just watch him die of cancer! Men in their 50s and 60s end up getting prostatectomy because the risk of watching is too great.

If you really think every diesease is researched "men only/woman only" you are wrong. Most of research is for dieseases that affect both men and woman.

I’m going through the data now so it may take me some time but reading the first paragraph I can see your 3 main points of contention are:

-Underrepresentation of women in health studies

-trivialization of women’s physical complaints

-discrimination in the awarding of research grants

As far as the NIH funding longevity by genders the figures show that while there is a disparity between the funding awarding between men and women, it varies as in some instances the men get slightly more than the women and in some instances women are awarded slightly more and also some where there is no significant difference.

In Fig 3 (A) the caption states that women turned in less applications than men 1991-1995.

My takeaway from the data I’ve read thus far is good to have as a visual aid, but unfortunately it doesn’t account for any externalities (outside forces that may influence the results). For example, I have 2 jobs. One is security and the other is social work. There are a lot of women in social work and a lot of men in security. Is it sexist? It’s possible but I don’t think so as men don’t generally go into social work and women don’t generally go into security. So if I say there are disproportionately more women than men who get promotions and jobs doing social work, does that mean the system is sexist towards men or is it just that there are less men in those jobs to get promoted in the first place?

Dude, I don't know why this shit popped into my feed, but the truth is all "activist" shouldn't be striving for rights for a particular group....the only thing people should strive for is equality....not extra rights. MRAs are popping up because other groups are claiming to be victims and want EXTRA rights above and beyond legal and social structures. I don't buy any of the bullshit. I depend on me. And if more people would stfu and just focus on bettering there OWN lives, this world would be a lot better place.
