I knew a woman whose husband was retired military. He developed some sort of neural condition and stopped being able to help around the house as much, all she did was bitch about him never helping. “Doesn’t he have a hard time even walking?” apparently wasn’t enough to dissuade her feelings against the man who, even as a cripple spiraling toward full invalidity, was still providing the primary income for the household. I’ve never talked to her since then, I imagine he died just like she all-but-said she couldn’t wait for.

As a dude with friends, I'd say a good friendship has people who love you for who you are. As a dude in a relationship, this person loves me for who I am. Providing is fulfilling to me, but I feel the appreciation for my character and personality, and acceptance of my flaws.

If you feel your relationships are built on what you can give to others, these are unhealthy relationships.

Well men don't really love women for who they are. How can they? Men generally don't understand women. They're 'in love' with how a woman looks, their ham acting performances coupled with misplaced feelings of guilt and protection. Men are also 'in love' with their newly acquired sex comfort zone.
