I think overall the culture war is just way too toxic. I spent a lot of time on it in my 20s and I wish I could get every minute back. Even if you think you're above getting caught in an echo chamber (and let's be real, 99% of us do), the constant back-and-forth shapes you into someone who isn't totally you. I even (and I'm incredibly ashamed of it to this day) had a phase where I thought gay marriage was an irrelevant issue because civil unions exist.

If the goal is to fight the culture war, then my advice would be to find a new goal. That's like saying "I want to enlist in the military to shoot people." Inevitably we're all caught up in it somehow, but it's much better to identify what matters to you and fight for that, instead of playing the team game where everybody loses.

I'm not Right or Left these days. Both sides have their heads up their collective asses. I don't play the losing game of the hollow yet dangerously increasing polarization of this country.

I think you're being a little unfair in your opener, the far left certainly engage in all the man hating you might never wish to see in your lifetime, but the right are actually trying to offer a fair deal. The whole traditional wife/husband routine is relatively fair, if very rigid.

That said, neither side are offering anything I'm particularly interested in, so supporting either side seems pointless. Another way to look at it would be "which offers a much worse life for men?" That might make it a little easier to decide who, if either, you're going to support.

A third choice from the comments in here would be to carve our own position out and support that. Interesting, a mammoth task but interesting. I'd like to hear more about that.
