Looking forward to listening to this one when I get the chance. I'm a firm believer of the idea that men and women cannot be friends. Mostly because of men who will put up a facade for literally years just to get the chance to do something with you. Men are opportunists. There's the occasional pickme that targets taken men to feed her self esteem as well.

Anyways I will never have a male friend again. It's women or nothing. I've had 14 year friendships down the drain because theyre actually male opportunists.

No, at least not close friends. There were men who just wanted to be friends and later asked for nudes and do sexting. That’s not how you would treat a friend. There was an older dude in his early 50’s who claims he wants to be my friend. Sorry I can’t do that.

I guess I’m an outlier. I’ve had great male friends, who want nothing to do with me sexually, but like me as a person. Guess I’m just not that hot 🤷🏻‍♀️

But seriously. We don’t tend to hang one-on-one once they pair up, unless it’s for a specific reason such as something practical like needing help moving a dresser, advice I am looking to get that is personal and not to be shared outside, or we are doing something that is “our thing” that she or my SO is not interested in. Not unlike my relationships with my brothers. Generally, by extension, our partners are included, not because we require chaperoning but because we like the partners and enjoy their company. Secure and mature people tend to choose secure and mature partners. In the instances where the girlfriend was a manipulative and irrationally jealous (if I wanted any of these men, we would have dated before she was in the picture) narcissist pickme who was just a pain to be around, I would distance myself all together- I really don’t need that in my life. And honestly, it impacted the friendship, due to losing respect for my friend for having such poor judgment (the manipulation was not subtle, all he had to do was remove the goggles doused in his libido), to bring someone like that around. (Full disclosure, I was the one once with the possessive asshole boyfriend a long time back, but I learned my lesson and made amends with both male and female friends….who were around long before him, and long after). It’s worked out, for group dates, and even when one of us is single, the other is never meant to feel like a third or fifth wheel.

I’m not dismissing anyone else’s lived experience of ulterior motives, as I know it exists and I’ve been there, but after careful curation of my circle, this is mine.
