I've got my own small agency that provides services to tech companies and other agencies.
A big part of FDS that I've internalized is not tolerating mistreatment, and not expending energy defending my decisions.
If a client treats me or one of my team disrespectfully, I terminate the contract and send a bill. Because we're very, very good at what we do and our prices are reasonable, I've had companies get other employees to reach out to me to try to convince me to work with them again. Not interested. You're on my shitlist forever. I'm petty and IDGAF.
Don't pay me on time or try to nickle-and-dime me? You get one reminder. If it happens again, I terminate the contract and won't work with you again.
I never did this as any sort of strategy, but it's worked in my favor - the agency is attracting more and more high-quality clients who truly appreciate the hard work we do for affordable prices, and pay us on time!
As Kate Moss says "Don't complain, don't explain."
