Hi. I recently moved in with my boyfriend and we are planning to wed next year (saving money since families are from two different states). We get wonderfully well and I do truly believe this is it. So does he.

He is an older man, lived with his ill mother for years until she passed away last October. I moved in to help with the grief period and he asked me to stay forever.

Now, about money.

I am an english teacher and I make about 1,5k a month. He is a writer and translator and makes much more than me, specially since his family left him the house and some intelectual property that he receives money from monthly. Lets say he makes 10k a month, I’m not sure.

He constantly wants me to not worry about not being able to help around the house with money (after my credit card and medications I get about 300 dollars left for myself).

He pays for the food, the maid that comes here everyday (which he insists) and when we go out he pays for my dinners and expenses.

I help A LOT around the house, things like cleaning, cooking, taking care of the employees needs, his needs.... but I feel like all that matters in the end is that I should be that “independent” woman mentality that has been engraved in my brain since a young girl.

How to not feel guilty?

TL;DR: I cant afford to help with the bills on my fiancé’s house and I feel guilty even tho he has more than enough for both of us.
