Masculinity across different subcultures varies pretty widely from what I've seen.

I'm "white" by any census definition, but identify as Armenian-American given my cultural background and ancestry. Within the Armenian-American community specifically, attitudes towards masculinity are more traditional than they are in mainstream American culture. The average Armenian-American young man is very much in that vein of being a hustler. Usually they are car guys, and often fashion themselves as smooth-talkers/try to present as flashy. For young Armenian men that do not fit that stereotype (e.g. me, because frankly, I think it's tacky/because most young Armenian-American men aren't high achievers), it means they need to adapt their approach pretty drastically, but that's hardly a death sentence imo.

Edit: I'll add that generally, Armenian men are very traditional with regards to roles in relationships as well. They have pretty strong expectations around gender roles, and tend to spoil their partners, from what I've seen.

De Puerto Rico, the machismo aspect is very real. You work you take care of your family and you protect woman. If you don’t have a job you’re not a man. I can’t really speak for any other ethnicity’s. I was adopted by Jamaicans who all fucked with anime and videogames but also gangbanged lol. So it was definitely a balance.

It's kind of a cultural stereotypes thing, blacks are stereotyped as being more masculine for some reason, likely due to them being demonized and used for heavy labor(and a lot of white americans secretly being gay for bbc) , while asians are feminized due to their culture and physical features being stereotyped as being more feminine, with western media enforcing stereotypes for both for a long time. i'd say asians also have it hard due to incel community bullying or '' blackpilling them'' and people on internet lashing out when a girl says she likes asian celebrities/actors saying he looks gay or like a woman or something. That being said, straight men concerning themselves with how masculine or feminine a random guy is odd regardless of his ethnicity. I've even seen people lashing out at black girls for choosing to present in a dolly-feminine aesthetic and i'm like, who cares? It's odd

There's a general foundation of similarity in masculine expectations within a specific society, that has greater or less expectations among different sub groups.

For example the generic definition and expectation of masculinity is a human male that provides for himself, his family and his community. He's someone that has leadership capabilities, while having an even killed temperament. He's someone that can protect himself, his family, and community if necessary. He upholds social order among the collective of the group.

Now these expectations are reduced or they grow depending on the subgroup and their ability to achieve these standards of masculinity.

For example a man in poverty may not be able to provide for his family, so the expectation for him to do so is dropped. To maintain his social expectation of masculinity he may be required to violently dominate other men to obtain resources or cooperation for his individual benefit.

A man who is wealthy may not be expected to protect or lead his family because he earns enough money to outsource those responsibilities to other people, or can put his family/community in an environment where there is no protection or leadership required.

The idea of masculinity and who fits the expectation or performance of masculinity is wildly varied.
