Curious if any other atheists divorcing from religious parents are out there. Divorce will be finalized in two months, working on parenting plan. For now, kids go to a religious school (really great and welcoming school/community, despite some obvious points of disagreement, so no complaints) and go to services each Sunday with their mom for like an hour even if I have them that day. Five minute drive each way, so has been no big deal.

I’ve told her I’m fine with this arrangement, but she’s wanting to have in person codified into the agreement and I’ve told her that I’ll never agree to that because with the weather turning I plan to have them with me as we go places (in state) to explore.

I think I could get around her objections by agreeing to let her know in advance when in person won’t work, without giving any other details. (I’ve had issues when I’ve given her unnecessary details in the past, she’s definitely still not over wanting to control/manipulate me.)

Curious if anyone else has experience with this, or really anything else I should be aware of as an atheist. (Legit had “secular” professionals express surprised disgust when I’m open about this, for any of you religious folks wondering why this may weigh ok someone’s head.)
