In my country - a candidate in an election may be elected from 2 districts (in other words - elected twice). Such elected candidates give up one of their parliamentary seats and a casual election is then held to fill one of their parliamentary seats.

It was clear that one lady was going to be elected in the casual elections but she chose to make use of the female quota mechanism to get her seat. She did this because she wanted to 'waste' one of the seats forced upon us by the female quota and let the candidate who was going to be elected - whether male or female - do so through the votes of the electorate.
