Feminists: Please stick around, we need you to be our peons! But don't express any opinions please.

Is this the beginning of the pendulum swinging back as they start to critically analyze feminism? It is for cis white women.

The boys know feminism is about misandry but they can't speak up...yet.

Isn’t that what all the waves of feminism were about?

Later waves discovered how the movement didn’t cover e.g. black womens issues or more recently lgbt women’s issues

Feminism has always been criticised no? Inside and out

[–]GulchDale 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, black folk already know feminism was only ever about helping privileged white women. Every other race including poor white women have never been part of the movement's goals.

[–]CasualSmurf 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I got perma banned for posting this in TwoX. I've defended other WoC on that sub because white feminism always ignores them or just removes their posts altogether. Yet white women are always putting themselves at the forefront of oppression.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I witnessed that. I admire your courage to stand up for WOCs, and I hope you catch the build in joke in my comment yesterday.

But like, haven’t they become part of the new waves though?

Go to r/fourthwavewomen and you’ll see a plethora of posts criticizing aspects of liberal feminism: sex work, surrogacy, “choice” feminism, etc.

  • This is a place for "not the fun kind" of feminists. Here we insist on the continuing relevance of a feminist critique rooted in progressive class politics and structural analysis. We hope this space to be a home for growing numbers of feminists who are becoming disillusioned with the mainstream 3rd wave liberal feminism. Authentic feminist analysis is being silenced. Thoughtful, open, honest discussion is desperately needed. Welcome to the raddest feminist club on Reddit!

I looked at the first 10 or 15 posts and I don't see anything criticizing feminism directly.

This post looked promising but it turned out to be a condemnation of men.

  • The feminist movement on the other hand has been so perverted lately that it’s teaching women to do the opposite for which it was initially intended. What started off as women wanting to have equal human rights, has turned into the opposite. Feminism has been going backwards since men forced their way into feminism, now it’s no longer a women’s rights movement. The current message feminism promotes to women is they are considered less than human beings by male standards (next paragraph goes into detail about this). It solely benefits men and hurts women; Porn is now ”empowering”, have casual sex, don’t ask for commitment, have high risk sex, give him your money, and use abortion carelessly. I am not judging any woman who has done these things, we are all victims of this fucked up system, what I’m saying is who does this benefit, really? Now there isn’t even such a thing as a woman; we are “breeders, menstruators, and ‘people with periods”. The word and definition of mother and woman is being erased. Modern feminism has become a men’s rights movement so every man can have access to women’s body via casual sex, pornography, or prostitution and we have been reduced to nothing more then objects.

  • Men consider themselves the standard for a human being and expect women to “elevate” ourselves to their standard in everything in order to count as a human being. Have a penis to be woman of the year. Stuff yourself with steroids and beat their national bench press record. Get drafted so women can get slaughtered, and gang r-ped by the enemy. That’s coming! All in the name of this fake “equality” and being a good “feminist”. And they have the nerve to be shocked when some of us don’t believe in it anymore. When you don’t play along with these mind games they say “What you don’t believe in equality?”, and it’s like a kid saying “What you don’t believe in Santa Claus?” after you found out it’s just your parents. The game is rigged and we will never win. So we have to change the rules.

I… shouldn’t need to?

The fact that the different waves of feminism exist outright proves it

I’m not sure what you’re misunderstanding

I… shouldn’t need to?

Maybe, but you do need to.

The fact that the different waves of feminism exist outright proves it

Artificial boundaries for a movement that is and always has been blatantly anti-male.

I’m not sure what you’re misunderstanding

No, you're the one who seems to misunderstand that I asked you a question. You did not answer it.

The comment I replied to said

Is this the beginning of the pendulum swinging back as they start to critically analyze feminism? It is for cis white women

And how the roots of feminism stem from a solely cis-white woman’s perspective

And then I pointed out how that original perspective has always been criticised, hence why fundamental tangible changes happened in the subsequent waves of feminism

So, some aspects may overlook or ignore the disproportionate issues of black or trans / gay women e.g.

That answers your question, feminism is a movement that’s always been criticised, if it wasn’t then different perspectives of feminism wouldn’t exist.

You wouldn’t have Marxist feminism, neo-liberal, radical feminism, new wave feminism etc etc, you’d just have like, one single message which isn’t the case

If that didn’t answer it maybe you could define what feminism is, Maybe it’s confusing because the definitions aren’t aligning? Or why restructured / reinterpretations of feminism don’t point to conflict within the general topic woman’s rights?

[–]tenchineuro 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That answers your question, feminism is a movement that’s always been criticised, if it wasn’t then different perspectives of feminism wouldn’t exist.

You did not even touch the question.

  • >> Feminism has always been criticised no? Inside and out
  • > Inside? Please show me.

You claim that feminists criticize feminism, that's what inside means in this context.

I ask you to show me.

You don't even seem to understand the question.

[–]-Soggy-Potato- 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

If you wanted a specific example I could lint you to , black feminism for example

Feminism didn’t focus on the unique struggles of black women, pushing for an inclusive movement rather than the prior exclusive one

Same idea follows to lgbt feminism, the straight white female standard for feminism didn’t account or fight effectively for their rights

A more recent topical one now is with trans people and feminism, especially with TERFS etc

You also have the Different types of feminism, an ‘example’ of which is Marxist feminism, radical / liberal feminism which I mentioned before

Marxist feminists criticise liberal / radical feminists and say capitalism is the root of woman’s suffering

Radicals say the standard isn’t harsh enough, ideas such as women need to go celibate or gay to fight back, men / male nature is the root issue

Those outline how feminism is inherently criticised, internal disagreements in approach and understanding of the issues and solutions sparking diversity.

And then you got the different waves of feminism moving thought mainly about suffrage. Then the second wave recognised a lack of focus on reproductive rights, the lack of was was criticised and changed. And then the third wave feminism was about female heteronormality, after criticism and disagreements within regarding the issue

To simplify: diverse feminist groups within feminism exist - those certain groups can disagree with the approach or understanding of the issue - they criticise the status quo and either push for change or branch out into more specific groups of feminism

The status quo of feminism is very clearly challenged throughout history

I hope this clears it up because I’m not sure there’s much more I can do. I don’t really get why you’d like, make a statement like that when it doesn’t look like you know anything about the topic

Black feminism

Black feminism is a philosophy that centers on the idea that "Black women are inherently valuable, that [Black women's] liberation is a necessity not as an adjunct to somebody else's but because our need as human persons for autonomy". The Combahee River Collective (1974-1980), a group of black feminists, spoke on how black women are constantly and simultaneously fighting this ongoing battle of multiple oppression from all angles.

Modern feminism? That's what it's been from the outset.

They've had to rebrand it every couple decades to obscure that.

[–]SnooPets2522 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I remember some modern feminists told me that feminism was always against transpeople

[–]mikesteane 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They also forgot to mention that it was like this from the beginning.

[–]vietnapino 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Opinion that’ll definitely get me downvotes on here but I’d argue the same could be said for the way some topics are discussed here too. Issues such as false rape accusations more often than not have race as a factor more so than that the accused is a man. Darker skinned men of color like Blacks and Latinos will be more affected by these accusations because they are viewed as hyper sexual and aggressive/dangerous. By viewing it as simply a male problem you take away an important nuance to the discussion.

For all those who downvoted:

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. How far are you guys going to walk through the minefield to find out that we're past the point of no return, and that everything we're doing for "men's rights" is just prolonging unecessary and fruitless suffering for men?

They already hid the fact that women ruled throughout history just as much as men did.

They will not listen. They will not care. We will always be expendable in their eyes, and they would rather die than change their view.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Technically they did, by saying it is transphobic.
