Oddly enough men will put other men down that perform these jobs . You think men in the business sector smoking cigars and drinking brandy think these kinda men are on their level ? It's a economic class thing. These are considered lower class jobs. It's not men against women It's the economic classes working against each other.

One of my favorite feminist-crushing moments was sitting at a party with my in laws and some of their friends. One of them was divorced, bitter, angry and hated men (shocking, I know). Anyway, she was droning on about how women are the best at everything, especially cooking, and that men should leave it to the women to do it right...

All my family just looked at me and the men all smiled bc they know me. My wife was tired of her BS and shrugged at me.

So, I entered the conversation and, long story-short, I pointed out that there are millions of doors open for women cooks, chefs, bakers, etc. in hospitality, but women don't want those jobs because they are hard and demanding. She continued to argue with me, even to the point of ridiculousness. "How would a MAN know anything about cooking or how restaurants work?"

I responded, "Because I'm a professional chef and I hire, evaluate and fire people all the time. Women simply don't want to work that hard in 100 degree kitchens at 8 pm on Friday nights, so they quit and go do something else. They watch TV, get convinced they can be chefs, waste their time and money to learn how to cook....and then find out the reality: It is brutal, hot, mentally exhausting, fast-paced, PHYSICALLY demanding and you don't get to see your family most of the time, including holidays....Are there opportunities? Of course. But, do women WANT those opportunities or to really compete for those opportunities? Nope."

She just sat there in stunned, humiliated silence...and then she went home. We had a great time after that.

Honestly, while I havent done anything to this level: this doesnt seem that awful, in my opinion. Just mentally prepare yourself to deal with the roaches crawling all over you - I think it'd be worse if you werent expecting it. Just hose yourself down when done.

Very few women would do a job like this. I hope this guy makes at least 70k/yr, good for him, this is real work.

I just got suggested this sub for some reason and god damn are these comments sad. Women were only given the opportunity to cook and clean for a very, very long time. It was oppression. Women also work unsanitary jobs such as this. I am a man and am friends with many men who don't spend every waking minute pitying themselves the way you guys do, and they get along in life just fine. If you are feeling hurt or neglected, try setting up an appointment with a therapist if financially possible

You do realise that women do work these types of jobs as well right? You're picking out one video of a man doing an unsanitary job and deliberately ignoring the fact that both men and women work jobs like this, or even worse than these.

Why do you not talk of women who work in such conditions? Why do you not speak of Aby Hayward, who scoops up raw sewage with her hands to clean up sewage blocks and provide important samples for laboratories? Why do you not speak of Janet Nutt-Kraft, who works day in and day out in a thankless job to keep the streets of Portland clean? Why do you not speak of Penny Brelin, who ensures that the very foundation modern cities are built upon don't crumble under our feet?

Why do you not speak of them? Of the countless women that work, in your words, "jobs like this"? Why do you refuse to acknowledge their contributions to our world as a whole?

Men and women have always worked back breaking labor side by side, and still do. It’s just been genderized recently in the west (about when the middle class appeared). Middle class women are the lower class that has the privilege of not doing manual labor. But all over the world, still to this day, and all throughout history women were along side men, building pyramids, working fields (especially pre colonial americas) etc. these are working class “peasant” women. to say “women do house chores while men do real labor” is bullshit for many other reasons, but is only referring to a minority of the population, for an extremely short time in history. It’s true women also were assigned domestic chores, but this is on top of their other labor, keeping them down because they have no time in their lives for anything else.

We deemed cooking and cleaning as oppression because we were forced into it. Women were considered too weak or useless for a lot of things so our main roles were to cook, clean and look after the family.
