For people who only read the title:

The bill... seeks to tackle the nebulous definition of consent in Spanish law. …[T]he law had long relied on evidence of violence, resistance or intimidation to decide whether a criminal sexual act occurred.

The new bill defines consent as an explicit expression of a person’s will, making it clear that silence or passivity do not equal consent.

I don't understand...the bill is saying that in order for sex to be considered consensual, the person has to give a clear YES. What exactly is wrong with that? You shouldn't be having sex with anyone unless they say say yes anyways.The point of this, I am assuming, is to force people out of "gray areas" where victims may be taken advantage of. Think of how many rapists try to defend themselves with the argument "Well, she didn't say no, so it must've been a yes." Am I missing something? Y'all are weird for thinking stronger laws favoring consensual sex is opression against men. You people focus more on getting falsely accused than about getting actually raped (which is statistically more likely to happen even if you are male). I am glad I left this subreddit. For a movement that is all about "helping men," ya'll really bitch about what women are doing and how they are being defended against rapists. 🤮

Am I missing something? This seems like they are changing to fairly standard view of what consent is.

This doesn't mean women can just accuse men freely with no consequences. They'll still have to provide evidence that no consent occured

Consent is the difference between sex and rape. Violence shouldn't be required for a rape conviction which was required by Spain's old law

Think about that. You could record yourself having sex for safety reasons, the woman could accuse you of rape and the video evidence would mean nothing. She doesn't have to say "stop" or "no". She doesn't have to struggle or try to fight you off.
