Personally, I'd say it's a general apathy towards young men that starts early in their childhood. I frequently hear parents, usually new or expecting ones, hoping for a son because "boys are easier to raise than girls", but the reality of it isn't that boys are easier to raise while girls are more difficult, it's typically that people feel like they can put in less effort to actually raising a son while they feel they need to be much more caring and involved in their daughter's life.

Granted, my experience is purely anecdotal, but it really didn't help me or any of the current generation of men in my family feel like they had a place of value or belonging, and I'd be willing to bet my situation isn't unique.

They've been increasingly marginalized over the past 40 years. The last 10 being the most progressive bit of alienation. I get down voted for saying it, but it's true. Tell one demographic over and over for years that they're toxic and the source of all wrong in this country, they'll eventually start to believe it.

Google search mental health association for men in colleges. You will get rare results and if you look into it, they are just formalities and most of them blame the man instead.

Now Google search, mental health association for women in colleges. Ton of results and web support.

Once fathers are divorced, boys don't get exposure of ideal men up until thet reach colleges. These boys grow up listening to express their emotions which immediately backfires for 2 reasons:

Advertising your vulnerability gives bullies more power to bully you.
Your success in dating decreases further.

Males are biologically very selective in when they can be agressive and when can they be vulnerable. If you are going to teach them to go against your biological hardwiring and be emotional always, they will end up being broken.

An emotional man who is not taught emotional control is more broken than a man who is strong when the time demands you to be strong and emotional when it's the right place to be emotional.

Men and women are biologically different. Stop telling boys to copy women's method. It doesn't work.

Young man here whose got anger issues. For me I always get really angry because my mom cant relate to me, when i was 7 my parents got divorced and she moved over 6 hours away from my dad and he couldn’t be there to help raise me and without a real male role model I acted out. Young men NEED a father in their life, you see a common theme with “bad boys” and its that they didnt have a father figure growing up. Bring back a mother-father family dynamic and the problem will gradually fix itself

He started well, had a good point about why are people doing this, it’s not just about gun control. The fell off the rails and blamed Biden and went on a typical right wing attack.

It’s so frustrating. The right actually gets close to acknowledging the human problem esp for males but goes derp.

The left doesn’t acknowledge the male issues and only focuses on gun control.

Rinse and repeat until the next shooting.

Edit: I support sensible gun control like background checks, but alone it’s not going to solve the problem.

You're an empty shell, a state caused by absent parents, and suddently find yourself jerked in all directions as hormones go wild in a seemingly endless storm, as soon as you come of age.

You understand nothing about the world around you or the purpose of your existence. It doesn't make sense.

You make mistakes.

You don't mean to make them, but you're trying to learn, to figure it out, but it still makes no sense.

You're made to feel guilty, for being, for existing, for trying to make sense of things.

You're forced to accept a help that you can't comprehend. The building blocks that would allow you to peer over the wall of confusion simply aren't there. No one even tried to help you figure out what they are and where to get them.

How do you even catch up to everyone else. You're so...so far behind...

You have no teacher. No figure to look up to. No sign to point you in the right direction, so you give in to the maddening pressure and get angry.

This isn't everyone's context but I'm pretty sure there's something there to synchronize with.

2 decades later, I still work on understanding anger. Therapy helps. It has a process.

Jordan Peterson spoke about this.

Basically he said that most young men/boys are naturally aggressive, rebellious, anti authority and this is good and natural. But these boys/young men need someone to teach them how to focus that rage and aggressiveness instead of just medicating these boys.

I'm not anti-gun. I own a gun for protection. But this is not happening as much in other places. Mainly in the US. And we have a lot of guns.

On the other hand schools have become no boys land and it's not surprising boys are disengaging from school and other social activities. The constant media blitz that boys and men are bad can't help these boys think about a future.

But mainly I agree with Tucker. Mental and social problems are likely to be at blame.

Where was this boys father and why don't we here about how hard they and they government tried to get this boys father involved.

He was raised by a drug addicted mother and a grandmother he obviously hated.

Why don't we screen boys in school for anxiety, depression, schizophrenia? Because we don't want to spend money on mental health. We just wring out hands at dead 10 year olds and say...must be da menz.
