In the U.K. men are now earning less than women

I work security and I’m earning less an hour than the fucking. Cleaners and I’m above that of a normal security because I guard government buildings

They are also favored in many male-dominated fields. STEM fields are actively promoting for more women to enter.

I also remember seeing an experiment with identical applications but with different names on(male and female names). The "women" got like triple the amount of interviews using the same application. Perhaps not a large enough sample size to confirm the bias on a larger scale, but the results were consistently showing gender bias in all fields the experiment covered.

The field that needs legislative action is "nursing". Millions of good jobs are off limits to men, merely because they are forced to bear the title of "nursemaid" if they want to work them. Additionally, the most qualified workers are forced out of the field, and patients receive lower quality care. If they can change "fireman" to "fire fighter", they can change "nurse" to something without a sex.

When I was a teenager, I went to apply at Subway, and the owner/manager smugly told me they only hire girls there so don't bother.

I bet if I went in with a parent they'd at least let me waste my time filling out an application to appear fair.

Amazon hosted a nation-wide IT competition in UK secondary schools this year. Each group had to have 50% girls or they would not be allowed to enter. It got even worse when the teachers encouraged all-girl groups but shunned all-boy groups.

Yeah every retail job I’ve had they’ve either subtly put the girls at the front most of the time and guys were usually getting the carts or stocking things. I applied to be a front end cashier and they gave me the job but after like a month they told us they’d prefer the girls at the front and most of the guys were my age range (22-17), and they stuck us on carts or back in the warehouse.
