Many if not the majority of Posts in this subreddit have devolved into rants, now while I am guilty of it myself I thought it would be worthwhile to step back and discuss what Men's Rights groups seek to address and attain.

Within the Western world, there is a systemic failure to treat men and women equally. Specifically, Men are held to a much higher standard than women and suffer greater consequences for the same infractions of the law. Within family courts, men are not only minimized as it applies to parental value but they are victimized in the legal outcomes. Women in most nations are neither punished nor discouraged from committing paternity fraud and men are forced to raise or at the least finance the upbringing of children they did not sire.

While statistics show that men are more likely to be the victim of domestic abuse both physically and mentally men are also far more likely to be punished by the legal system for it. A woman can and all too often do make false accusations of rape or abuse, which even if found and proven false will follow a man for life.

Within the workplace, men are subjected to constant scrutiny for any behavior that might be deemed inappropriate while women are applauded for their sexual aggressiveness.

Both within the legal systems of most nations and now embedded in their cultures men are more and more being subjugated, when I think of Men's rights and am thinking in terms of real equality.

Men and women should be held accountable equally and justice shouldn't consider gender when doling out punishment. A father's ability to parent and his commitment should be deemed equal to a woman and the courts should accord themselves with this mindset.

In its most pure form, Men's rights are human rights and rooted in true equality, modern men do not seek to rule over women, and we do not seek special privilege, we do not want legislation that exclusively addresses men's concerns. We unlike the current incarnation of feminism seek to ensure both men and women have the same rights, privileges, and opportunities to succeed and likewise, we are held to the same standards when we misstep in society and should be shown the same measure when punished.

Additionally, we should not lower standards that put the public at risk just to allow one gender greater access to a given profession. The most obvious example of this would be firefighting, this is a highly physical and dangerous profession that requires a high level of strength, durability, and endurance. Lowering the standard to allow broader access to this profession places the entire public at risk as well as greatly increasing the danger to the other fire team members. Most men are unable to perform these tasks to the level the job demands and it is irresponsible to weaken this pool in the name of equality when not changing the standard is the epitome of real equality.
