Ever put something on your to do list but ended up not doing it because x, y, and z?

Your brain will make excuses. We all know this.

Motivation is more of an ignition. But discipline is the fuel that will keep you going.

My definition of discipline: The exchange of pain for accomplishment.

We can see this every day with just about anything: we exchange the pain of stress for a paycheck, the pain of getting off a comfortable couch to hit the gym, the pain of working hard to gain status.

“Well what if I become a drug dealer and skip a whole bunch of pain?”

You’re gonna pay for your actions sooner or later.

“With what?”

The pain of jail or death. So do things the right way.

“Then what do you mean by pain?”

Whenever you get that feeling of pain (or dread) in your abdomen or chest when you have a task, it says “I don’t want to do this”…that’s exactly what you should be doing.

And here is how you get over that hurdle:

  1. Think of something you need to do and feel the pain in your abdomen/chest.
  2. Instead of fighting it, embrace it and become one with it. Become the pain. Hence the phrase “embrace the pain”.
  3. Push through that pain and accomplish your task anyway. It will be easier to accomplish.

Trust me, I know how stupid this sounds on paper. But once you start practicing this, your productivity and focus will skyrocket and your life will never be the same.

We live in a world where people are fat, lazy, and unaccomplished. This makes becoming an alpha much easier due to the lack of competition.

Before I go, there’s one tid-bit I should tell you: this technique doesn’t get easier with time. You will always hate the fact you are disciplined. The same way Floyd Mayweather hated going to the gym at 5am, and the same way Elon Musk had to sleep in his factories and work 100 hour weeks to keep Tesla afloat during a financial crisis.

Make discipline a permanent part of your life. Do not get off your phone and go straight to playing video games or scrolling through the main feed. Start today. Start now. Discipline is your best friend from here on out.

My mantra (3x): Discipline above all else.
