Sorry, people are going to call hypocrisy if you espouse to love traditional values, yet reject the ones that you personally don't like.

It's like if a guy wants a traditional housewife who does all the work around the house and worships the ground he walks on, yet he doesn't play the role of breadwinner...yea, fuck off mate 😂 it's a two way street and you got to play your role.

Sure, but you also can’t have your cake and eat it too. As an extreme example, an ex porn star who wants to settle down and start a traditional family is trying to play both sides. Even if she upholds traditional values after the fact, you can’t just not factor in her past. Similarly, if a guy is in and out of jail for domestic abuse, but then “comes to Jesus” and wants to lead a traditional lifestyle…by all means, but his prospective partners are probably not going to be on the same page.

In terms of cherry-picking traditional values, sure, there’s varying degrees, but if a huge piece of the archetypal traditional relationship is missing, then you can’t really call it traditional. But to really have a conversation about this, we would have to establish exactly what “traditional” means to you.

Also we forgot that men and women had sex before marriage through out history if you read memoirs sex before marriage was very common, only in very select communities it wasn't (i. E. New England puritans), prostitution existed in medieval Europe and was legal, peasent girls cheated with knights, in colonial America there was drinking and one night stands.

There where women small business owners in the 19th century.

In 1950s America there was infedility. Traditional values as allot of people here talk about never existed, however there was more normal behavior. Men weren't demonised for acting as men and wanting good wives.

Now a days mind you we have gone over board, as there is now outright hostility to a proper family structure. What's new is the disdain for anything wholesome.

Preach sister I believe you traditionalism isn't binary. But there is a fine line to walk on. I have traditional values of sex and marriage but progressive values about relationship structure. To me traditionalism is a means to an end not an end to itself.

It depends exactly what you mean by traditional. An average working american man probably can't afford a full time housewife indefinitley and most households have two working people. Likewise most people are increasingly way less religious so traditional religion is increasingly less appealing at a fundamental level. There just aren't many benefits to most of this for the average person since the traditional lifestyle only makes sense now in very narrow contexts.
